I need a secretary. @.@

Or more hours in a day that are not already spoken for. Or a to-do list so exhaustive I cannot fail to do each tiny step on it (yes, yes, Carl: I’ve read GETTING THINGS DONE :)), except I need either the time or the secretary to create the exhaustive to-do list, so…a secretary would be nice.

This has been an extremely busy month: I’ve written 42K, which has involved finishing STONE’S THROE, copy edits on SHAMAN RISES, and writing more on MAGIC & MANNERS. There have been 3 birthday parties. I have gone out to coffee (well, hot chocolate, anyway) with a friend. We went out to brunch with another set of friends. I have popped over to a foreign country for an afternoon to visit yet another friend. I’ve read five books. I am going to go see Seven Brides for Seven Brothers on Wednesday and Coriolanus on Thursday, after which we will have the friend who is joining us for the play/broadcast with us for the weekend. (Jesus, that’s more social activity than I’ve had in YEARS.) And as if all that wasn’t busy enough, I’ve had a cold at least half the month. @.@

Garth Brooks will be doing a concert here in July. Tickets go on sale Thursday morning. I gotta be ready to snatch some up. :)

may not be in the budget, but have you considered/tried a virtual assistant service where you just pay someone for a set block of time here and there?

...this! My wife was going to do this once upon a time so I did some research, and some of these services are actually pretty useful.

Good luck! Also, argh! I have reading to do!

I need an assistant who will read social media for me: RT hilariously awkward tweets, go on Facebook to mock and troll the extreme right wingers I went to junior high with, and express sensible opinions on all sorts of subjects here on LJ.

Do you have a university near you? You might be able to get a student intern to chip in and help with things.

Getting a housekeeper was a grand step for us. ;)

Someday I'll have a budget and figure out how to manage one of those. @.@

Budget? What's that?
kitmizkit on January 28th, 2014 02:01 pm (UTC)
Something that I don't think I could justify a housecleaner without. :)

For me, it was a quality-of-life and relationship-saver thing.

I dislike cleaning, I *hate* spending all my free time on it, and I completely resented Greg a) not helping or b) doing a half-assed job that needed babysitting.

it's been a god-send around our house too. especially since while there is nominally "my" space and "their" space, there is enough overlap that it helps keep everyone sane. and like E, I hate spending time on it. maybe i spent too much time doing it professionally (summers of high school and first summer of college). also, you can get someone to just do certain spaces if the whole house is out of price-range reach. the cleaners who come to our house do all of the upstairs (the kitchen and all the rest of "their" space). in the downstairs (nominally "my" space), they just do the living room and bathroom. I take care of my bedroom and den and the storage area near the cat boxes.

How about we split one...

wow--you have been busy! I'm tired just hearing about it.
irishkateirishkate on January 27th, 2014 10:23 pm (UTC)
Bloody hell - I thought I'd been busy...

Hope it is ok that I'm joining you for a few days - I don't have to stay the whole weekend....

But I am looking forward to seeing you.
kitmizkit on January 28th, 2014 12:57 pm (UTC)
Yes, it is *lovely* that you will be visiting us. It's possible I'll keep making you sit in a room and talk to me while I clean up around you, which is, I swear, 90% of what I need to get things like that done.
irishkateirishkate on January 28th, 2014 02:43 pm (UTC)
Oh - that I totally understand.

I might have to have you come visit me just to do the same thing.

Remember I can be handed things to hold from time to time too..

things, or little boys.... ;)
irishkateirishkate on January 28th, 2014 10:43 pm (UTC)
Exactly!
