Ah! Could only think of US bus company or bar in Kinsale. Neither seemed likely.

What exactly is a bank holiday?
Do you know the whys/wherefores of the bank holidays? Are they like the stat holdays in Canada/US?

I'm vaguely aware of them because my job pulls a daily nickel price from the London Metal Exchange -- and I've always wondered why a bank had spring/summer holidays. :)

It's essentially a public holiday, yes, but it's based on when banks usesd to (and still do) have their extended holiday weekends, during which time basically nobody could do business because the banks were closed so everybody might as well be. Banks over here still have really short hours compared to the US, too.
