Picoreview: The Wolverine

Picoreview: The Wolverine: That was a gratifying amount of half-naked Hugh Jackman. My hat (or, thematically, possibly my shirt) is off to you, sir!

Stay through the first set of credits. That was the best teaser trailer I’ve seen since, like, the one at the end of the 2nd Back to the Future movie.

Seriously, I’m dancing around saying anything because I don’t want to spoil it, but I was really happy with the interpretation of the storyline they did, the last dream scene nearly made me shriek aloud (three words which i cannot use because SPOILERS but OMG!), and I was really, *really* happy with the female characters.

There were things I coulda used a little more or less of (naked Hugh falling in the former, although dang; as the credits rolled Ted turned to me and said, “So was that enough half-naked Hugh?” and I was like DAAAAAAAAAAAAANG) but overall, I was really very pleased. Good job, guys!

Re: Spoilerish .... did you understand why?
Wolverine's claws in the comics, when they revealed them to be bone and not something added in the adamantium-ing process (as had always been assumed, even by Logan), turned out to be knobbly and not at all like the sleek adamantium ones. They're following the comics with that in the films, but for what it's worth, the comics ones also make no sense at all in that regard. :)

For that matter, as a rule, his claws are sharp on both sides, so Mariko should've sliced her fingers off there, but PLOT DEVICE. I mean, the *bone* claws should nominally only be sharp at the tips, but the adamantium claws are definitely sharp all over. or not. As is necessary for fondling, apparently...

I had no idea why the SS was so hot for the claws either. I had a vague supposition he was going to weld them onto his big old hands or something, which seemed...not even silly, in comic book terms. :) I actually didn't clue into the marrow until you said it right here. Heh. :)

As for the 'necessary for fondling' didn't she stay further back -- if I'm picturing them properly -- they have an arc downwards near the pointy bits?

Maybe to keep from cutting their way UP through his forearms when 'sheathed'?

I can just imagine him bumping into door or a passerby -- *Darn it -- hate it when that happens* -- the blades popping up between his ulna & radius. :P
