Dear Brain,

Dear Brain:

Please stop suggesting Kickstarters I could do. The list is already longer than my arm, I do still have a book under contract and two more verbally contracted, plus a bunch of short stories to write for people. I also have to, at some point, actually write new proposals for my editors.

I’m just sayin’.

Love, Me.

Dear Catie,

Sorry, no.

Love, Your Brain

*laughs* I think that about sums it up. :)

My brain is just as unhelpful, only usually with more profanity.

I have a list of possible Kickstarters in my notebook and they keep staring at me. And growing. -_-

We need INFINITE TIME.

Srsly, so totally there with you!

Buh, yes. The administration takes a lot of time. I'm just about done with campaign #6, just waiting on the books to ship so I can turn around and ship them back out again. And that will give me a few weeks to rest before I start #7. -_-

I'm in awe and admiration of your host of them. I've just done the one, and I love, love, loved doing it, but gawd, the administration, yes, and just, yeah! I really very much want to do another, but I can't even decide *what*! :)

I think after a few you get a rhythm down about what you can deliver without pulling your hair out. These days I design the campaigns so that very few of the prizes require extra work. I like being able to do the extra work, but I can't juggle that and a day job too. :)

Plus, I keep the targets small and the funding periods short. Raise the money, get it in, get everything out the door in a month. Rinse, repeat. Last year I did five. This year I have four planned. One down, three to go!

Yeah, my first Kickstarter was hugely about learning what not to do. :) Another one would be way streamlined, but yeah.

You are a Kickstarter *maestro*! I learn at the feet of the master!

I am still learning, honestly! I have enough material for a second edition of my book, even. A lot more 'do not do this's. My latest is "do not let backers pay to caffeinate you." >.>

mawahahaha....

Um

Yeah - not gonna happen.

I swear to you I thought someone named Brian kept recommending Kickstarters to you.
kitmizkit on June 12th, 2013 05:35 pm (UTC)
I checked the spelling of "brain" like THREE TIMES before I risked posting this. :)

Sadly, it turns out that my reading is worse than your typing. :)
