I love my readership. :)
So after announcing yesterday that I'd be going to Fargo next autumn, there was a rash of "but why aren't you coming to MY city?" (Answer: because your city convention hasn't invited me to be a GoH and pay for my plane ticket there.) I did, though, say that "It's not that I wouldn't like to come to (whatever city suits your personal desires), guys. I'd love to. I am, however, afraid that despite JK Rowling and Stephen King, most of us writers don't make the kind of money necessary to go on self-funded book tours, and publishers only start paying for some of that kind of stuff when you're already #1 on the NYT. I wish it was otherwise! :)"

Somebody then threatened to take bids on what cities to send me to and then start a Kickstarter* to send me on a book tour. *laughs* I just love that they'd even say it. I don't see it *happening*, but I love that the threat was even made. Such cool people. :)

*I donno if you could actually get away with a Kickstarter for a book tour. I mean, I suppose it's *arguably* an artistic endeavour, with a concrete product at the end, but o.O :)

It is nice to be wanted isn't it? My fans (of my Llewellyn books) sometimes write and say, "When are you coming to..." To which I have to answer, um, probably never. But thanks so much for wanting me to!

I've got a bed in Upstate NY for you any time. Of course, I can't guarantee the bed won't be covered with cats...
