I love my readership. :)
So after announcing yesterday that I'd be going to Fargo next autumn, there was a rash of "but why aren't you coming to MY city?" (Answer: because your city convention hasn't invited me to be a GoH and pay for my plane ticket there.) I did, though, say that "It's not that I wouldn't like to come to (whatever city suits your personal desires), guys. I'd love to. I am, however, afraid that despite JK Rowling and Stephen King, most of us writers don't make the kind of money necessary to go on self-funded book tours, and publishers only start paying for some of that kind of stuff when you're already #1 on the NYT. I wish it was otherwise! :)"

Somebody then threatened to take bids on what cities to send me to and then start a Kickstarter* to send me on a book tour. *laughs* I just love that they'd even say it. I don't see it *happening*, but I love that the threat was even made. Such cool people. :)

*I donno if you could actually get away with a Kickstarter for a book tour. I mean, I suppose it's *arguably* an artistic endeavour, with a concrete product at the end, but o.O :)

*I* have *no intention* of getting away with it. Not that I wouldn't love to be able to do a book tour, but the last thing I need to do right now is add a Kickstarter project that involves INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL to my list of things to do.

There should be a smiley involved in that somewhere. :)

Yeah, that's on the insane side, even for you! Let's wait until Guillermo del Toro's adaptation of Urban Shaman hits theaters.

But the real takeaway from this is, visit http://mariancall.com/ and listen to the pretty songs. Her song about Highway 5 makes me homesick in ways I didn't realize it was possible to make me feel. And I bet you'd get a kick about her song about Real Alaskan Women.

She's a friend of ThinkGeek, so I've met her a couple of times, and she's Good People.

I shall. <3 :)

That? Would be full of awesome and win.

I'd also want to audition. Hee!
