I'm not. But if I was.
I'm not. Certainly not any time soon. But if I was:

What kind of Kickstarter do you think would be Most Awesome?

Old Races novel/la (KISS OF ANGELS, Grace's story, & short stories)
Comic (Take A Chance, Graphic Novel and/or Chapter Two)
Comic (something new; ElectriCity, maybe)
Totally new book/series

I choose

Actually, I'd totally go for any of the above.
kitmizkit on October 15th, 2012 03:18 pm (UTC)
*grins* While that's flattering, I figured actually making people make a *choice* between them might be more helpful. If I was doing a Kickstarter. Which I'm not. :)
Cassecassanrose on October 15th, 2012 03:23 pm (UTC)
hard rule
For the foreseeable future, please know I always pick Old Races. Always.
kit: oldraces_aftermathmizkit on October 15th, 2012 03:27 pm (UTC)
Re: hard rule
*laughs* There are a loyal number of you for whom that is indeed always the answer! And I am SO GRATEFUL for that, because it's letting me write stories in a world I love. :)
pgwfolcpgwfolc on October 15th, 2012 03:23 pm (UTC)
I don't flatter. I honestly had trouble picking. Even though, yes, this is all purely hypothetical.
kit: takeachance_bwmizkit on October 15th, 2012 03:41 pm (UTC)
Ah, no, I didn't mean to be dismissing that as mere flattery. I meant that, well, it *is* flattering, because having readers who are willing to give anything I write a go is ... well, *flattering*. It suggests I'm doing something right. :)
pgwfolcpgwfolc on October 15th, 2012 03:45 pm (UTC)
Right. Didn't mean that to come across as a rebuke. (I have strong personal feelings about honesty, and I consider flattery a form of lying, so I sometimes come across as intense on the subject.)

What I meant is that yes, I'm sure it's flattering, but, as it happens, it's also true. Because, yes, you are definitely doing something right. :)
pgwfolcpgwfolc on October 15th, 2012 03:27 pm (UTC)
(For once, I wish I could edit LJ comments...)

I mean, really... Old Races is a treasured favorite. But I was so sad that Take A Chance didn't get picked up. And Electric City sounds so cool. And I'm always interested to see what else is up your sleeve. (Not to mention I hear tell of a steampunk novel somewhere on the horizon...)
kitmizkit on October 15th, 2012 03:31 pm (UTC)
I'm pretty sure you're gonna end up the hero of one series and a minor character in another, 'cause that steampunk thing may not manifest for a while but your name is PERFECT for the character, so I'm feeling like I oughta name somebody else after you too, since you gave me so many name choices there! :)
pgwfolcpgwfolc on October 15th, 2012 03:41 pm (UTC)
I feel like I should say "That's not necessary," but really... I'm just going to sit here and not object. ;)
kitmizkit on October 15th, 2012 03:42 pm (UTC)
It's probably technically *not* necessary, but I think I should do it, and it's not like you can stop me. :) And also it would give you a special place in the Mizkit Pantheon, because I've never named *two* characters after somebody before. :)
pgwfolcpgwfolc on October 15th, 2012 03:47 pm (UTC)
Technically, no, it's not necessary.

And I might just be able to stop you if I really wanted. (I gave you legal permission to use my name once, you know.) But that would be very stupid of me.

I'd be honored. :D
kitmizkit on October 15th, 2012 03:48 pm (UTC)
BUT HOW WOULD YOU KNOW IT'S NOT JUST SOME RANDOM GUY NAMED PAUL! You'd never win in a court of law! :)
jamileigh17: cheshirejamileigh17 on October 15th, 2012 03:20 pm (UTC)
I would go for either the Old Races or a totally new book/series. Not AS fond of comics, (mostly because I've not been impressed with how the kindle handles comics) but I'd read them too.
kitmizkit on October 15th, 2012 03:30 pm (UTC)
Ooh, bonus commentary on *why* you'd want one or the other! Thank you!
Cassecassanrose on October 15th, 2012 03:26 pm (UTC)
I am also open for a new series if the premise is good. LOL yeah I'm a picky hard ass. :)

If I was voting, but I'm not....
I'd choose Old Races. I'd love to know more about Grace, she's quite interesting and, like Gary, I think she has way more to tell than she's letting on.

If I was voting...that is :-)
Aberdeenaberdeen on October 15th, 2012 03:44 pm (UTC)
I completely failed to vote, because I don't have time this morning before I work to run through all the permutations of:

Oooh, that. No. Wait. This. No, but wait! This!

Which is how my brain was cycling. And I have to go to work. So you'll just have to do them all. Eventually. But not now. Now, I am just no help. (;
Bryantbryant on October 15th, 2012 03:58 pm (UTC)
New stuff; every time you do something new I'm totally delighted by the results.
kitmizkit on October 15th, 2012 07:59 pm (UTC)
<3 :)
Kari Sperringla_marquise_de_ on October 15th, 2012 04:02 pm (UTC)
How about a kickstarter that would buy you a month's rest?
kitmizkit on October 15th, 2012 04:03 pm (UTC)
Actually, part of the reason to even think about doing a Kickstarter is that it kind of would. It'd be a source of income with deadlines I set myself, and I already know from experience that my patrons are extremely forgiving on that topic, even when I myself am not. :)
GM Ceosanna: Beastceosanna on October 15th, 2012 08:47 pm (UTC)
While I selected old races (because I do love them so), I'd be perfectly happy with new material. I'd even be happy with comics, as long as there was an option to get a physical copy. While I've made the jump to an ereader for books, I just can't do that with comics quite yet.
caeriacaeria on October 15th, 2012 08:55 pm (UTC)
I went the route of something new. While enjoyed the first two Old Races novels, they didn't grab me or hold my attention. I realize I'm in the minority there, but I never got to the point that I cared about any of the characters. The same can't be said about the Walker Papers. Those I love and I'm invested in the outcome and the characters.

Graphic novels are okay but I miss the richness of the storytelling that can be done with a novel or a series.

I'd definitely vote for that mythical steampunk novel. As a steampunk cosplayer, it is near and dear to my heart.

But mostly, I think I'd like to see what else is lurking in your imagination that can be brought to light. What can I say . . . The new and shiny always attract my attention.

kitmizkit on October 16th, 2012 07:28 am (UTC)
Oh, I don't know that you're in the minority. There are those what like 'em and them what don't. There are people who don't like the Walker Papers, either, if you can imagine! :)
irishkateirishkate on October 15th, 2012 09:05 pm (UTC)
New please - though it's a tough call...I count Electric city as new btw.
HL Henriksonveilofgrace on October 16th, 2012 04:54 am (UTC)
I'd love to see what new worlds you've got trapped in your brain dying to be born.

I have to be honest, though - I never managed to get into the Old Races series. I don't have any idea why, except maybe that life gets in the way. I did buy all of them, so I should probably get on that one of these days... HAD I read them, there's every likelihood I'd say "Yes, do THOSE!" because I think Kickstarter is a great way to get extra stories out that might not be told otherwise. Whereas a new series you would be more likely to sell, so we'd get that new world anyway.

Crap. I voted already, but now I'm warring with myself over my personal preference vs. the better use for your stories.

Good thing it's hypothetical, right? >.>
Trent the Uncatchableknappenp on October 16th, 2012 05:41 pm (UTC)
I must say, I've been waiting for Grace's story for EVAR. But I also really want to find out what happens to Chance. And ElectriCity. And whatever new thing you have percolating.
