best husband.

Not only did Ted take over baby duties for the full long weekend I was gone, but, knowing I had beaten my goal (which was to reach 80K), he went forth and got me a Brain Restorative Media Kit as a congratulations gift: Season 1 Game of Thrones, the A-Team movie (who can resist Brad Cooper?), and a Jessie J and Pixie Lott album each.

We have now watched the first episode of GoT, which, <3 <3 <3. Tyrion. I mean, just <3. Everyone’s wonderful, and of course Dinklage is playing the best character in the books, but OMG. Tyrion. :) About halfway through the first episode Ted said, “…think we can get these all watched by Sunday?” (when the new season starts). I said no, but sympathize with the impulse. :)

I really do have the best husband. <3

(x-posted from the essential kit)

Very fine husband indeed!

Ted is a fine husband indeed, but no more than Catie deserves.

I came home with the Bluray GoT on Friday. A little too early to be a birthday present for herself, but never mind, her eyes still lit up.

Pixie Lott? Oh dear. Oh dearie me, that is a terrible admission to have to make. And more so if it's Young Foolish Happy rather than Turn It Up.

All I can say is you appear to have an opinion on which album is more embarrassing to own, so I suspect you have no leg to stand on. :)

I speak from the point of view of one who has already made all the mistakes, and merely wishes to help you young folk avoid the same.

I'm rather disappointed by YFH - to me TIU has the right quirky bounce, but YFH seems a bit more calculated. There's the obligatory rapper track(s) and everything. It's not all bad, but meh. I won't buy her third unless I've already heard it and liked it.

I still need to watch the final two eps of S1 GoT, but yes, by god, the casting of Dinklage is brilliant.

(Which is strange, because some of it I feel was superb, and some of it, I think 'what the hell?' over. Jon Snow is too pretty. Robb is supposed to be auburn. Sean Bean, for as much as I love him, does not look like a Stark; Benjen OTOH was perfect. I have fallen head over heels for Jaime's casting. etc.)

Being completely not-visual, and not even particularly inclined to paying attention to descriptions (for example, I believe Bran is blonde and Daenerys has black hair), I am largely oblivious to who doesn't look right. I think Mark Addy is inspired as Robb, and Dinklage is Tyrion as he should be rather than as he's actually described, and otherwise pretty much no clue. I wouldn't have cast that kid as Jon Snow, no, if it had been up to me, but I don't *object* to him. :)
Alix (Tersa): GoT - Bran and Summertersa on March 27th, 2012 09:17 pm (UTC)
Mark Addy = Robert. :) He is a great casting choice.

I think the kid who is Jon Snow is fine in his acting, it's just...one of the big elements about Jon Snow's character was how much he resembled Ned and Arya, because grrm's still left the question open as to his parentage (*) and the strong resemblence to the Starks is part of what it hinges on (also that the 'Stark look' wasn't terribly attractive, which is why Arya is called 'Horseface' and can pass as a boy. Their casting of her was also spot on).

The actor who plays Jon, though, doesn't look anything like Sean Bean, and shares only the black hair (at least they got that part right) with Benjen.

So it's not just a visual thing there, but a major plot point?

(*) - I don't want to go into speculation about this because I can't remember if you've actually read the books and it would be some major spoilers to do so. Or, you already know all the speculation and therefore don't need me repeating it! :)

TOO MANY CHARACTERS CANNOT REMEMBER THEM ALL will just go be embarrassed in a corner now. Robb, Robert, Rudolph, Randolph, they should ALL be played by Mark Addy! O.O

I didn't even remember Jon was supposed to look like Ned, though of course he should. :) (I've had an opinion about Jon's parents since about page forty of the first book (or wherever we discover his story as presented) but haven't read past the 3rd book so dunno what's been alluded to since then. :))

There are, in fact, far too many characters. :) I was reading the most recent novel (after not having read the last one for several years), and there were so many characters I couldn't remember who they were. o.O

Unless I'm an idiot (and I could be), I don't think he's dribbled any new information since the 3rd book. :)

But you're the champion of doing lots of stuff in a very short time! Of /course/ you can watch them all by Sunday!

Well done on the word count and also for picking a good 'un husband wise.

Well, we *could*, but we're not going to. :)
