I'm suffering from Chaz's usual Difficulty With Delivery Men. Having missed yesterday's delivery, I am now waiting at home obediently for a delivery which might be "a little later" than yesterday's 10am delivery. It's now noon. I could've gone out and done errands by now. I could have showered by now. I could have done any number of things, but instead I'm sitting here in the fear of missing the delivery man. I was able to make brownies, though, 'cause that's an occupation one can dash to the door during.
On the positive side, I've finally finished reading FRANKENSTEIN, which, my God, I don't think I've ever read a duller book with a less sympa...no, I've read two with a less sympathetic protagonist, but one of them was more interesting up to the point I stopped reading it. Anyway. God. At least that's done with and I don't have to do it again. o.O
I also finished "The Christmas Hollidays" short story, but for the first time in history I've sent a short out to beta readers because the ending seemed Very Spoilerful. The two readers who have responded so far agree, and think I should cut it somewhere other than where I intended to, at a place which is far, far more agonizing than what I'd planned. So it's their fault. :)
So now I just have to write the new Old Races story and then I can spend the Christmas weekend reading instead of writing. I have three ARCs from friends, the new TWENTY PALACES novel by Harry Connolly, Kate Elliott's Gate Trilogy, the latest 2 or 3 Cast novels by Michelle Sagara, and I just started reading HIDDEN STEEL by Doranna Durgin, and it's wonderful so far.
...there's no way I'm getting all that read before next Monday (and that's just what I can remember, nevermind the pre-Napoleonic War history I'm trying to ingest), but I'm gonna give it the old college try.
I wish I knew how to make WP post to LJ again. I guess I'm gonna have to go find a new crossposter. :p
