just taking a moment…

…to be happy. Again. Still. Whatever. I got pointed at the AV Club’s Kurt Vonnegut tribute again a couple days ago, and could not help, as usual, to notice that people really don’t do enough of this:

“I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, ‘If this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is.’”

So I like to when I notice I’m happy, which really is quite a lot. I’ve got a family and a job I love, and random strangers sometimes take the time to tell me when my job has made /them/ happy, which, when you get right down to it, is pretty flipping incredible. I keep myself far too busy with work because I *do* love it, and because people get all excited just like I do when I announce new projects in the pipeline, and it’s hard to turn away from excitement. :)

So once more, let me say thank you to all of you people, who help make me happy pretty much all the time.

Oh, I’m reminded: somebody asked what my two wishes would be. My world-level wish is one I’ve stolen from an apocraphal somebody else, but I’ve always liked it: “I wish that I, without any change to myself or my circumstances, was the least happy and least fortunate person in the world.” And my personal wish is I wish I could fly. :)

Furthermore, you guys had *awesome* wishes. I am further convinced I have the best readers & friends in the world. You guys *rock*.

(This post brought to you by a particularly nice fan mail, some hopeful squeeing on Twitter about “Easy Pickings”, and the general reaction of “WHEN DO WE GET TO BUY IN!?!?!?” to the Kickstarter campaign. ♥)

On the two wishes thing:

Your world-level wish is great. But for a personal level wish ... how about, "I want whatever superpower(s) is/are necessary to allow me to bring about my world-level wish"?

As I said to someone who wished something like that, I think that's cheating! The rules were, or were meant to be, one world-level wish, one wish that is strictly personal! But yes, that would of course be the *clever* way to go about it... :)

Hmm, that apocryphal looked familiar... *scuttles over to bookshelf*

"Get to the point. I'm busy. What's your wish?"

"Well...I wish that, without any change whatsoever in myself, I become the most evil, stupid and miserable person on Earth."

Satan screamed.

(Millennium by Fredric Brown, though presumably one of many with the idea :-))
