I spent a not-insignificant amount of time today trying to buy a damned Sony E-Reader. You’d think they didn’t want to sell the bloody things to people. And in the end I still didn’t *get* one. *mutters*

I have several(PRS 500 and 600 ), and frankly, any particular reason you want one?

The only reason to get one of those, instead of a Kindle, is that the e-Reaer accepts memory cards.
The ones I have are SLOOOOOOW in starting, slow in opening files, slower still in turning pages. Oh, and they use the 'title' embedded in your files, NOT the filenames, which is annoying when you're trying to read serialised stories where the file creator didn't get this completely right.
(A long list of stories listed as 'Preface' kind of sucks. The same with all the 'Sabrina Online the Story' which all show up as 'Sabrina', nothing more)
The SW used to transfer files, though, is just sucky...
Did I mention that they don't charge through the USB-port?

Note that I haven't tried any newer versions, and frankly, that probably won't happen, either, unless someone donates one to my collection.

The Kindle may have a sucky browser, and no removable storage, but... the Wi-Fi and option of not only buying stories dirctly, but also to download free previews more than makes up for it.
(I bought, downloaded an read one of Terry Pratchetts books while sitting in an auditorium, listening to a boring presentation that had absolutely no relevance to my job... or 90% of the others in the same room... )

Sony's E-readers seem to be out of stock a lot. ( In fact there is speculation over at MobileRead that Sony is discontinuing the 6 inch version)I hope you get one :). When you do, avoid Sony's software and download Calibre (unless you plan to buy from the Sony store). And ADE. Both of them are free.

You think buying the reader is a pain, just try buying a *case for the accursed thing. I tried 9 ones made by *Sony & the reader fell out of all of 'em (it's as if there's a piece missing out of the case) & I went to the Sony Store & they didn't have a single case of any shape, color or form for any of their eBook Readers. Apparently they'd been on backorder since *November...

I may just hit the DIY sites for instructions for making one myself. =rolls eyes=

I find it particularly irksome when I want to buy something that is for sale and I cannot. Sheesh!
