experiments in pincurls

We are experimenting in pincurls. Wednesday night Mom dry-pincurled my hair and I slept in the pins, then took them out. The curls remained for about three hours and then I went outside and they disappeared, fwoomp. So this morning I wet-pincurled it and spent some patient time with the hairdryer and after several hours took them out:

Then I brushed them and pinned them back, achieving what my mother, who Knows These Things, feels will be very suitable pinup girl bhair fbor btomorrow. Assumn bing, of course (young indiana is helping me type) that they don’t all fall out as soon as I go outdoors. *applies more hairspray* And besides, wait until you see the *hat*.

Very lovely!
Have you been to a Target store lately? They have some beautiful vintage inspired hats that would look amazing on pin up curls.

Re: Very lovely!
Pretty sure the nearest Target is more than 3000 miles away. :)

When I was a lot younger (like around 8 or so) I tried to do that to my hair. The following morning (after sleeping with them in all night) I brushed my hair. I did not know that I really shouldn't use a "normal" hairbrush (I had one with close set natural bristles, like almost all hairbrushes were way back then) and I ended up with hair something like this (http://www.tvcream.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/crystal-tipps-and-alistair.jpg). I haven't tried a similar experiment since :)

Oh, and Mum refused to let me wash my hair because we were going out and didn't have time.

At least you were doing the experimenting. My sister, 6 years older than me so 13, took a curling iron to my hair and burned my forehead slightly. My mother took me to the barber and had my hair cut in to a pixie cut. It had been below my shoulders. It took me YEARS to get my hair long again. I was in college before I let someone else cut my hair.

And the trick is to finger comb your hair, not use a brush. ;-)

Spray the curls while still pinned first. That should help them stay set.

You are going to look AWESOME!!!

Nice to see that young Indiana has a deft hand on the "b" key.

Hng. The first pin curls look great. In the second, they look like they've relaxed a bit. After your French twist post, tho, I keep imagining you with one. Which I could totally pull off, if I were not 3000+ miles away. :(

FWIW, I bought a grey cloche hat last weekend. *squinches face*

That is one spiffy decoration. And the curls are really cool, too. :-)

Wow, that's some adorable hair you have there. :)
