more pin-up girl

Two important things I have learned today about pin-up girl makeup:

1. It really is all about the mascara. I may even consider false eyelashes, that’s how All About The Mascara it is.

2. the makeup guy whose demo I watched was right: eyeshadow must be neutral. Very pale pink (which is what I had handy…the silver seems to have disappeared) turns out to give Too Much Pink on the face. Especially when I’m warm. Back to Boots with me.

Also, to my surprise, a plain ponytail with the makeup and the dress looks surprisingly 1950s, so possibly I’ve been worrying too much about the hair. I think I might attack my head with pincurls tonight (assuming I can manage to pincurl it) and see what it looks like tomorrow. This is starting to be fun.

Mascara is the Most Important Thing in any make-up.
I may have too many different mascaras in my drawer, but it's my one 'can't live without' cosmetic.

I literally cannot remember the last time I wore makeup, before my pinup makeup experiment yesterday. I had very nearly thrown all mine out this past month, because it'd been so long and I didn't see any chance of wearing it any time in the future. So mascara's not really an essential for me. :)

I don't wear it every day, but any time I have to perform in public, I cling to my eyeliner and mascara.

Back when I used makeup, I couldn't use mascara because any little thing would make my contacts kill me, so I found this kind of eyeliner that comes in a cake that you use a wetted brush with to apply. Almost as good as mascara.
