Welcome to 2011…

…the year of shameless self-promotion. Or at least that’s how it’s going to start out.

Tis the season for pre-ordering: SPIRIT DANCES is up for pre-order at Amazon (but not Indiebound, or I’d link there too). SPIRIT DANCES is book 6 of the Walker Papers, just for the record.

By popular request (okay, one person asked), I went ahead and did a sort of late Ireland 2011 calendar. The biggest advantage to having done it late means that the week it becomes available it’s also on sale, because Zazzle’s got a 20.11% off sale on everything until Thursday. Use “2011NEWYEARS” as the magic code.

And as discussed late last year, I’m going to be doing an Old Races short story project throughout 2011 as a method of making sure I get stories written for a potential collection. This project will deliver 6 Old Races short stories to its patrons, starting in February. There is one caveat to this: if one of the stories gets out of control and decides to become a novella instead of a short story, I reserve the right to deliver 3 short stories and 1 novella instead of 6 shorts–it all ought to come out to about the same wordcount, either way. ETA: Oh! Right! Silly me forgot to say! This is a year-long project–you’ll be able to buy in up til midnight GMT on 31 December 2011, and will receive all the stories to date when you buy in. :)

There are three options for buying in to the project. Options one and two are available through the shopping cart button below, but to explain in detail:

Regular subscription: $15 gets you all 6 short stories in electronic format. If you were one of the “Year of Miracle” patrons, you are automatically upgraded to the Premiere subscription.

Premiere subscription: $30 gets you all 6 short stories in electronic format, and a signed print edition of the collection when it’s eventually published.

Please note: this collection has not been sold yet. There is currently no estimated publication date. I will maintain a mailing list with the email and physical mailing addresses of all premiere patrons so that when the collection comes to pass I’ll be able to inform you and send out the books, but in the meantime don’t hold your breath. Realistically the soonest this will come to pass is, say, 2013.

Also note: Buying the premiere edition does not get you an electronic copy of “Year of Miracles” if you weren’t one of the original patrons in 2010. That was a one-shot deal; the premiere edition is simply to allow people who didn’t have the chance to subscribe to “YoM” an opportunity to also get in on the eventual signed print edition of the collection.

Options (note: "YoM" patrons get automatic upgrade to premiere)

Of course, there’s also nothing stopping you from buying a premiere edition even if you did subscribe to “Year of Miracles”, and I have also been asked to more or less create a “You are an artist and undervalue your work, I wish to give you more money” button, so:

Yay, yay, and more yay!

So glad you put together a calendar. I've had friend-made ones for the last three years, and didn't have one for this year. I was just mentioning to Greg that we needed to get a new one. And now we shall! And it will be a Catie-one!

Hooray for pre-orders and automatic upgrades!

And much, much love for your donation button. :)

Oh, cool. Glad to have provided you with a calendar, then!

Does my "if one turns into a novella" caveat suit, do you think? You were the one who made me think about that, so thank you. :)

(Also, at least two people have been amused by the donate button, so it was clearly worth making just for that. *laughs* *HUGS*!)

I think it does, as well as not including specific delivery dates for the stories. That was my other concern--that Life Would Happen, and you'd stress yourself out over a completely arbitrary and self-imposed deadline.

As for the button--dude. I can think of half-a-dozen people who could use that.

They're all welcome to use it, too, or variations on the theme. :)

My intention is still to deliver 'em every other month, but yeah, at least I didn't say "On the first of every other month!" or something. I suspect they'll end up coming in around midway each month. :)

Nice. Very equitable. Seems like the best solution all around. Well done!

And love the button. That's perfect.

Excited to see you going ahead with this. Good luck with getting it paper-published!

Meantime, I'm looking forward to Year of Miracles. (I read one book/novella/whatever at a time, but it got bumped to the head of the queue.) Hmm, if I work this right along with continuing to catch up on Joanie Walker's life, I could have a new (to me) C. E. Murphy story every month this year!

Fake ETA:

Do love the button. And, putting my money where my mouth fingers are, I shall go use it! :)

Whew! I'll certainly have a few paydays before that. ;)

By the way, love the new family icon.
