Authors Speak Out

I’ve blogged over at Bitten By Books today, about cover art and the controversies of having non-white characters accurately represented on them. Come on over and comment, if you like. I’m giving away copies of the Negotiator trilogy to three random commenters, so here’s your chance to win a set and give the ones you own to someone who doesn’t yet know they love CE Murphy books! :)

I jumped over to the Justine Larbalestier blog after your link to her book Liar and she turned comments off, but: damn. The new U.S. cover to the book is gorgeous, but also kinda reminds me of what I think Magrit looks like. :)

Stupid publishers. *shakes a tiny fist*

I never would have imagined such a hubbub over skin color! rilly!?

I asked if it is an American "thing". In Canada we, collectively, find ourselves scratching our head over things that get Americans all worked up and hot under the collar. Honestly I would never have imagined that it was "important" that Margrit had one white parent. wowza.

The Negotiator covers might not be truly representative of the character, but they are still so beautiful that I want to pet them. :D

Proof positive that Canada is not America Lite.

And I do love the Negotiator covers, don't get me wrong! They're gorgeous! I just wish, y'know, that Margrit was black. :)
