stupid stupid rat creature

Why is it so much easier to remember the 2450987 things that need doing the moment the baby wakes up, instead of during his 3 hour nap? I am a stupid, stupid rat creature. This is why I make lists. *sigh*

- laundry
- clean the kitchen
- sweep
- mop
- vacuum
- walk
- write
- clean kitty litter
- make dinner

(x-posted from the essential kit)

I am the girl of 100 lists
From what shall I wear
To who have I kissed
Check items off
Let nothing be missed
Sing I to myself and my 100 lists

It is the nature of babies to eat their mother's brains through breastfeeding.

Heck, I need to make lists to get through my day/week, and I don't even have mommy-brain to blame it on....If I don't write it down (usually electronically), it doesn't happen

I'm completely taken by surprise. Thank you!

Oh. probably because when the baby is off your brain feels it is safe to also be off. I'm pretty sure we're wired like that a little bit.
kitmizkit on August 16th, 2010 03:56 pm (UTC)
That makes a lot of sense...

We have a lot of weird wiring like that and it seemed to make sense to me. Then again, I can see counter arguments...

*hugs*

My little one is six weeks old now and I'm discovering I need to-do lists for everything or I'll be lucky to even get dressed in the morning! Then as you say, when he sleeps I tend to potter around online or do something equally not-on-the-listy!
desperancedesperance on August 16th, 2010 10:07 pm (UTC)
We could make lists for you:

write
walk
read
cuddle Indie
read some more
eat a cookie
pour a glass of wine
(etc)
kitmizkit on August 17th, 2010 09:41 am (UTC)
Clearly you should, as that's a much nicer list than mine!

It's not that bad
At least it isn't if you don't have to keep a separate list of the lists you have and the order you have to do them in.

when the Baby sleeps you should sleep ..that is all the list you need :)
