stupid AIM

I’ve just uninstalled AIM from my computer because it insists the version I’m using via Trillian, which doesn’t seem to have an upgrade, is about to expire, but when I installed a new version of AIM itself the damned “you’re about to run out of AIM!” window didn’t stop popping up. So I nuked the whole thing, and since only about two people IM me on Yahoo and my msn account stopped connecting anyway, I nuked Trillian to. So anybody who uses that to contact me, well, I’m sorry. I’m on gchat as cemurphyauthor, or you can rely on my sporadic ability to answer email.

For the record, I do not want a solution to this problem. I’m perfectly happy not having it installed.

And you can always (well, mostly) have Google Talk connect to AIM if you want to still be available there. That's all I use these days -- Google Talk and AIM from the Google Talk Client in my Google Apps Gmail account. Whee.

Hmm, I can't seem to add you from the gmail gchat box, it wants to email 'cemurphyauthor' an invitation instead.

I set it so I'm logging into gchat with AIM (with cemurphyauthor, I can't make it do both that and the other one), so that oughta work.

I like pidgin as an alternative to Trillian and use it to connect to AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, MSN and xmpp services like Google Chat, FB chat, and LJ chat ... granted the number of people I see active on the last one is getting to the point it usually equals the active entries I see logged into AIM...
