BBQ & Housewarming Party!

We’re celebrating moving to Dublin with a barbecue housewarming party! It will be on August 1 from 1-6pm, and everyone is invited (that gives you Americans time to get plane tickets, right? :)).

It’s BYOB, where that second B could be ‘bottle’ or ‘barbecue’, if there’s something you want besides the hamburgers & hot dogs (& probably potato salad) that we’ll be providing. :)

If you’re attending, or think you can, please respond either in comments or email so I can give you the address!

It's not just Americans who'll need air tickets.

Hmm, I'm now wondering about a day trip to Dublin. It's a totally ridiculous idea, but totally ridiculous ideas are the best sort.

That would be awesome! :)

We arrive in Dublin a little before lunch time, and depart on the ten o'clock flight (we get should be home by midnight).

(There were very few seats left, but those that were there were on the right flights.)

I normally bring home-made beefburgers, but I have this funny idea that attempting to carry raw meat through security and customs might mean we'd not actually get there. And bringing odd sauces is out, too, since they tend to get classified as munitions. We'll have to see what interesting things are available at duty free.

(And we'll need an address, but I'm emailing you separately for that since this isn't locked.)

I love you people. :)

Oh, it's mutual.

Now, would you like a penguin?
kitmizkit on July 8th, 2010 06:15 pm (UTC)
I disdain penguins! They are south pole creatures!
The Bellinghmanbellinghman on July 8th, 2010 08:34 pm (UTC)
The original penguin, Pinguinus impennis, was of course, a North Hemisphere creature, and even lived in Ireland.

It's such a shame they went extinct.

We shall do our very best to be there, so we shall.

As will we, as will we.

I don't think we're going to be in Dublin that weekend, but we are up this weekend and all of next week. We'd love to see you guys and get to meet Henry.

That would be wonderful!

Wow. It's almost as inexpensive to fly a person from Milwaukee to Dublin with almost a month warning as it is to fly a person from Milwaukee to Bay City, MI with a few days warning.

If I had the cash right now I'd be so tempted. I need to get to Ireland sometime for some serious research time. (Even if part of the research is to get to the bottom of a few pints of Guiness... erm find out how different Guiness tastes over there....erm understand the perfect bar culture for my next novel.)

kitmizkit on July 8th, 2010 06:14 pm (UTC)
Guiness tastes MUCH better over here.

I asked Chris, but she thinks it'd be a bit too far to go. Particularly once I explained that it was Dublin, *Ireland* and not Dublin, California.

I would seriously consider it, if it didn't just totally break my bank. :)

Rats and knickers and other rude words.

Whatever we might manage to arrange for our hoped for trip to Co.Laois in the last week(s) of July, the husband absolutely positively has to be back in work on Aug 1st and I have a meeting in Oxford on the 2nd.

Oh, darn! I was hoping you might be over here just long enough to make it to the party! But hopefully we'll be able to see you elsewhen, still!

Arg! I'll miss it by about two weeks! Blast!
kitmizkit on July 12th, 2010 02:14 pm (UTC)
Will you be in Ireland?!
Lauraskeagsidhe on July 12th, 2010 11:26 pm (UTC)
I'm going to be in England (definitely) and a couple other countries (probably). I'm going to try to pop over to Dublin for a day, schedule permitting...assuming I'm welcome, of course.
kitmizkit on July 13th, 2010 08:54 am (UTC)
Of course you're welcome! Yay!
