thinking firmly inside the box

Last night, Ted suggested that today while he was out in Longford finishing cleaning the house, I go to the green grocer and pick up some broccoli to go with dinner tonight. Okay, said I. Then this morning I noticed I needed to go get Lucy some more food, so Henry and I set out to Tesco, which is about the same distance in the opposite direction as the green grocer.

We got cat food and walked back down to the green grocer. About 500 yards from them, I realized I could have gotten broccoli at Tesco and saved myself all that walk. But I was working on Ted’s suggestion, and was, not, I’m afraid, able to think outside the box.

So I got broccoli, and a pineapple for good measure. :)

::THIS:: is what I do too. Usually when tired or performing mundane tasks.

Ya know, it could have been worse.

You could have got to the greengrocer and found that they were out of broccoli, thus having to go all the way back to Tesco.

(Only to find they were out too.)

You were being friendly to independent store owners and buying local. You suffer for your principles. Look on the positive. You are an active campaigner and not just giving your money to the anonymous supermarket chain which only wants to analyse your purchasing habits and manipulate you into buying only their own-brand products.

You are a hero of the revolution.
