nevermind.

I was going to do a post about sustainable funding models and things, but this morning I stubbed the middle 3 toes of my right foot so hard I collapsed in tears and didn’t get up again for 90 minutes because it hurt so much it exhausted me. I was feeling pretty fragile and melodramatic, except I just looked at my middlest toe, which is black with bruising, so apparently I really did stub the holy living shit out of it and am not as pathetic as all that.

I may take a picture. It’s impressively horrible.

Oh, sweetie. :( Take care of yourself. Ice it?

If it's truly black, you probably broke your toe. I would recommend immobilizing it at the very least.

Agree. Did that once.
You can tape it to the toe next to it.
Ice and elevate and just kind of baby it for the next few weeks (no tight shoes).
Hey -- doncha live in one of those socialist hellholes with scary healthcare :) -- maybe have the doc take a look.

Yep. It sounds possibly broken; my husband experienced a broken toe. No fun. Crutches and everything. Go get it checked out. :(

Agreement here. Broke my littlest toe once by stubbing it on the couch, the black bruising reached my ankle. There's pretty much bugger all they can do for broken toes anyway except to buddy-strap them to other toes, but a GP confirmation, or not, would give you some idea of for how long it's likely to hurt.

Wow. That's some bruising. *is impressed*

OUCH!!!!

I hope you recover quickly. I sympathize, I'm constantly stubbing my toes on things..but not that bad! Heal fast! :)

Ow! :-(

*hugs* - hope your toes feel better soon.

ouch!

(but at least you didn't discover a pool of blood, she said hopefully)

OW! Careful love. You may have broken it and even if not it will heal slower than usual. RICE and no heels.
irishkateirishkate on February 3rd, 2010 09:07 pm (UTC)
If you do need crutches I have a spare pair from the LAST time mum had a hip replaced. Can probably get them to you if you need - will be in Dublin on saturday/sunday.. Otherwise generally agree - you probably broke it, flat open shoes and you may not be able to swim comfortably for a couple of weeks depending...

HUGS

Did you ice them? If not, do so. Also,, take ibuprofen to reduce swelling.

Then take chocolate to reduce misery. Continue til all discomfort ceases. Preferably highest quality chocolate.
