done & dusted

DEMON HUNTS galleys are finished and submitted. Now the question is whether to toss the manuscript or bring it to P-Con for the auction. (*looks at natural20* :))

That’s officially the end of the Five Year Plan, which was all about getting as many books on the shelves over a five year period as I could. DEMON HUNTS will be out June 1st, five years to the day after URBAN SHAMAN. 10 CE Murphy books, 3 Cate Dermody books, a scattered handful of short stories & novellas, and a five-issue comic series between June 1, 2005 and June 1, 2010. I’m a little hornswoggled by that.

Tomorrow: do the SPIRIT DANCES art fact sheet and finish chapter 26 of WAYFINDER, plus any other sundries which need getting out of the way so I can hit the keyboard running (to badly mix my metaphors) on Thursday.

Feb 01: DEMON HUNTS AAs due
Feb 05: SPIRIT DANCES art fact sheet
Feb 19: WAYFINDER due
Apr 15: SPIRIT DANCES due
Jun 30: New book proposals due

You and Rachael Caine make me tired.

So tired, in fact, I'm going to go take a nap.

You will be at Pantheacon?

Question for you then. Will you have time in your schedule to sign a book? One of my dear friends is attending and I can give her my copy of "Walking Dead".
kitmizkit on February 2nd, 2010 06:47 pm (UTC)
I fear my P-Con is Phoenix Con in Dublin, Ireland, rather than Pantheacon. But if I was going to be at Pantheacon I would be happy to sign a book for you! :)

Doh! I got my P-Cons all confluzzled. No worries. I'll just have to wait the next time you're in my neck of the woods (PNW). :)

I'm sure P-Con would be delighted to have the script for the auction..

An unnamed bidder would likely love to get their hands on it... of course they'd also love if it was already spiral bound if at all possible 'cos they're a slacker... :)

But seriously, I strongly suspect that their may be some interest in such a lot.
kitmizkit on February 3rd, 2010 10:24 am (UTC)
Sadly, the galleys do not come pre-spiral-bound, and the author has neither the funding nor the facilities to do it herself. :)
Natural20natural20 on February 3rd, 2010 10:28 am (UTC)
They should pay the author more or something. :) But that does not, of course, devalue the lot in any way. :)
kitmizkit on February 3rd, 2010 10:35 am (UTC)
I fear even if they did pay the author more she has more pressing things to spend money on than spiral-binding manuscripts. She does, however, agree that loose-leaf is a real pain in the ass. :)

Treating paper gently
The manuscripts I've seen at auction haven't been bound, just tied with string to keep them together. (I suppose a large envelope could also work.) I'm a little horrified at the notion of punching holes in collectible artifacts, but maybe I'm overly squeamish in that regard. And besides, the buyer can always mutilate it for their reading convenience if that's what they want, but it's very hard to take the holes back out.
