You guys are awesome.

Yesterday’s short story meme has hit upon the following:

- at least 5 stories I’d actually like to write
- something startlingly close to the plot of an upcoming book
- one story I’ll never write, but probably it’s not the one you think it is
- the observation that none of you pay attention to the structure of a Walker Papers title, and
- a clear predilection amongst my readers to see Morrison in leather pants

Later I’ll post a few responses. :)

Well! :)

In my defense, I thought I was naming a short story and not a book! :)
kitmizkit on September 16th, 2009 05:07 pm (UTC)
Well, you are, but I've kept the same naming pattern with the novella and the one short story I've written, so. :)
hegemony hedgehogagrimony on September 16th, 2009 09:56 pm (UTC)
pffft. Blind adherence to tradition is why the bad guys win! :)

I thought "The Blarney Stoned" was really close. Its a noun and verb. :) you know... Walking Dead... Thunderbird Falls... Banshee Cries... Rabbit Tricks (Urban Shaman... not so much... but i thought it was a bit of an outlier.... )

I'm betting the Old Races x Walker Paper Crossover is the nixed idea though... because I think I read somewhere on your site that they were distinctly separate universes.
kitmizkit on September 17th, 2009 05:31 am (UTC)
Actually, yeah, Blarney Stoned was pretty close. It'd just have to have "The" dropped from it. And it /is/ the nixed one, because I'm profoundly reluctant to cross those universes even in jest. :)

Snap. I hate it when I'm right

My beloved and myself pay attention to the structure of the Walker Paper titles-lol

Oh please let it be the one with the mongoose. That was the best. :)

I did try, actually. But the good title I came up with delivered a sad plot and vice versa. I went with the better plot.

Morrison, leather pants - BOO YAH! On the cover please, and a manly man not a boy as model (I know, not that you get a lot of choice). He could be in leather pants in mine. Or a loincloth (not sure what native peoples in North Carolina wore, actually)!
kitmizkit on September 16th, 2009 04:23 pm (UTC)
Now I'm curious about the good title!

Look, I know who *I'd* put in leather pants to play Morrison (except for the part where my brain cramps at Morrison in leather pants), and I promise he's not boyish. :)

I've been sort of scratching my head at the Morrison in leather meme. Must be somebody other than 'my' Morrison =)
kitmizkit on September 16th, 2009 04:29 pm (UTC)
Yeah, no, the idea just really doesn't work for me. Ted suggested perhaps he's a closet AC/DC fan, but I still can't imagine him getting up in leather pants. :)
hegemony hedgehogagrimony on September 16th, 2009 09:58 pm (UTC)
Also, to be forthcoming, I don't have a Morrison hangup. My pitch was entirely about getting a chuckle, and leather pants seemed terribly anti-Morrison in a chuckle-worthy way. :)
kitmizkit on September 17th, 2009 05:33 am (UTC)
Actually, given that it was you who suggested it, I didn't think it was very serious. I was just highly amused at everybody else going 'yeah!' ;)

(I can just see Morrison standing there in his slacks and button-down, staring at a pair of leather pants just sort of like, "...what could you possibly want me to do with these?")
hegemony hedgehogagrimony on September 17th, 2009 08:46 pm (UTC)
Heee! :)

Plleeeeeaaaaassssse share Morrison???????

Now a younger George Peppard....

One was Indian Summer, set in India. And there was another clever one...?
kitmizkit on September 17th, 2009 05:35 am (UTC)
*goes & looks up George Peppard* Not a bad choice!

I'm kinda reluctant to tell people my idea of Morrison, because I don't want to override their idea of him. Nobody, in their proposals for casting him, has ever come anywhere close to the guy/type I would cast. :)

oh oh oh.. so i've been out of town, but just so you know, that ursulav nod in the new book was AWESOME (also the book in general? pretty damn fabulous...)
kit: ursula_woopthereitismizkit on September 17th, 2009 01:19 pm (UTC)
You are the first person to notice that! Or at least to comment on it! You should win a prize! What prize do you want? :)
ghibbitudeghibbitude on September 18th, 2009 10:03 am (UTC)

:P but dude.. the easter egg was enough of a prize on it's own!!
ghibbitudeghibbitude on September 18th, 2009 10:05 am (UTC)
I died..I truly did. "I read it on the internet." bwahaha..
kitmizkit on September 18th, 2009 12:38 pm (UTC)
*laugh* Well, okay, if you say so! I'm glad somebody caught it, anyway. :)
ghibbitudeghibbitude on September 18th, 2009 03:18 pm (UTC)
:P you could send me fudge if you like but that's quite an undertaking. lol.
kitmizkit on September 18th, 2009 03:48 pm (UTC)
Ah, I can do that when I send suricattus her batch! email me your address! :)
