FANTASY MEDLEY give-away!

I feel as though I should not need to eat for a week. I swear, the human digestive system ought to work that way. Cold-blooded animals have a certain amount going for them. I suspect, however, that I’ll be hungry within a couple of hours…

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. I feel very birthdayed. :) And I have a new pedometer and movies and a new bread-baking tin, which makes for quite satisfying birthday loot, if you ask me. :)

The final tally for my two auction items was $375, not enough for me to write a new Walker Papers or Old Races short story, but *more* than enough to prompt a FANTASY MEDLEY give-away. I’ve got one last ARC (advanced reader’s copy, as opposed to the finished version) I can send to someone, so this is your chance.

THE CONTEST: tell me (in no more than 50 words) what Old Races story you would like to see told. It doesn’t have to be something that comes organically from the books; you can just randomly want “a story about the djinn” or something.

THE CAVEAT: I may make off with one or more idea and turn it into a story at some point. :)

THE WARNING: I expect there will be spoilers for the Negotiator trilogy in this thread. If you don’t want to be spoiled, stay out of the comments.

THE WINNER: will be the person whose story idea I like best!

(eta because I am a dork) THE DEADLINE: I’ll give you a whole week. The contest will end on June 9th. :)

THE OTHER CONTEST: Ok, this isn’t mine at all. My agent, the incomparable Jennifer Jackson, who started agenting at the tender age of nine, is celebrating her 16th year of being an agent by running a contest for ARCs and books written by her clients all this week. Go read her instructions carefully and participate! :)

miles to Minas Tirith: 315.5

Uhm, I'd like to hear about when Malik lost the first time? I can't remember if it was to janx or not, but yeah.

if I'm completely wrong about my canon, feel free to kick me. The books are RIGHT there but I am lazy.

(either about him, or the girls! early childhood! <3)

I want to read Grace's story. I want to know what drew the vampires. And I want to see Cam and Cole's wedding.

Okay, the story I have been dying to hear is Grace's story. I want to know everything behind her and I want to get in her head. I want to know her way of thinking and feeling and her logic (Especially before she punched Grit XD).

Argh...My memory is a little shady on this series at this point.

First choice: A story about how Grit's mother and Daisani met and about how the early stages of their relationship.

Second Choice: ANYTHING with Grace :-)

Third Choice: For when the girl finally gets around to waking the other vampires -- the story of the one who lifts his head and calls for 'five more minutes mom!' :(

I actually just finished reading this series. There are so many "spin-offs" that could happen from delving more into the history of Janx and Disani and their 'competition' to what happened to the selkies after they 'disappeared' from history. Then there are Disani & Janx's girls. I think the one that I would like to read the most though is something on Chelsea. So much is hinted at her for her, just like Grace, but unlike Grace nothing is really explained.

I would like to see a story about Daisani and his chickie secretary that Janx has killed. Barring that, Daisani and Janx and the woman they loved!

(I really need to read your story in Fantasy Medley don't I. Hee. :)

You mean besides New York Hold 'Em? :)

(And yes, you do!)

I want to see chibiYOUNG!Dasani. Before he was big, bad, and ultra-powerful. What made him, shaped him into the ruthless being that could just coldly lock away all his fellows the way he did.

Alternately, ditto Janx. >:)

I would love to see a story told from the point of view of a priest. Kind of like the priest who knows Alban's around for a long time before he directly interacts with him.

This is Old Races, but I am cheating a bit since of all the Old Races, Grit (and thus we as readers) are more familiar with the Gargoyles than with the others. Still, I think that this would make a fascinating read. I love the idea of fleshing out the love triangle between Biali, Alban and Ausra. Certainly the idea of seeing Biali before his damaged face is tempting. It's implied that he was a contender for Ausra's affection so he must have been handsome, dashing, and striking in his own right. Alban would have had the support of his people and not been as lonely; I could see him smiling more, even being flirtatious and lighter.

I seriously doubt I'll ever *know* that story myself!

I'd like to hear more about Vanessa and the speak easy she won in "New York Hold-em". I've been wondering what happened next ever since I first read that short story.

My pre-order didn't come through, so really crossing my finger that I win.

Actually, I love that you got where Malik was coming from. :) I sort of feel like there aren't exactly *bad* guys in the Old Races so much as there are clashing cultures and, you know, the occasional lunatic. :) I mean, a lot of them are clearly not good people, but everybody's the hero of his own story, and in that series/world particularly I kind of can't help seeing them that way. :)

I would like to see gargoyle family life.

(Ok, I don't really know what I'd like to see. But I wanted to enter and couldn't think of anything for DAYS. So I'm just putting something out there. :-) )
