quick note

I was going to say “quick note, not wordcount-related”, but that’s not true, as I’ve now blown past the halfway mark in the book, so yay me. The 2/3rds mark feels Very Far Away right now, which is sort of depressing. (It’s not *that* far away, about 13.5K, but that feels like a lot just now.) But on the positive side, I’m vacillating between “oh god, I don’t have enough book left for this story” and “oh god, I don’t have enough story left for this book”, which may not *sound* positive, but it’s always a good sign.

Oh. Someone asked for a reminder (because for some reason other people have a harder time keeping track of which of 23543650987 zillion books I’m working on), so: the book I am currently working on is DEMON HUNTS, book five of the Walker Papers. (Book four, WALKING DEAD, will be out in September.)

What I was actually going to say when I started posting this was Take A Chance #4 is in the stores today. Teaser pages

(x-posted from the essential kit)

Sweet. And, every comic book store I've been to since issue 1 came out has been sold out of issue 2 and 3, and the place I visited on Friday said 'Looks like we've sold out of all four issues'. He advised me to wait for the Graphic Novel. :)

you're a comic book writer too?!
and you didn't tell me? I'm hurt! (kidding)

more seriously, Miz, I'm wondering about something.
How does a comic book script look like? I've seen the Belgo-french graphic novel style script, and it didn't speak much to me.
I've even given it a try, and it came out as way too ambitious, and had to be toned down so much, it's under complete revamp and in production hell for two years now.

I've had that story that's been begging me to be written and drawn, but I can't find the best way to write/script it down.

So any info would be very welcome

In the mean while, I'm so looking forward reading Take A Chance

Take care, write well and hear of you soon!

Re: you're a comic book writer too?!
I've got a sample script up over here on my professional site, if that's of any help. I just studied a bunch of different styles (with the help of Nat Gertler's book on writing comics, PANEL ONE) and chose one that worked for me.

Re: you're a comic book writer too?!
Thank you!

I've noted the refs, and doing a search.
you're a life saver!

I've got two books by Syd Field, on screenplay
I'm a sucker for such books like that, and screenplays in general (one of my fave is China Town's)

Finished Banshee Cries!
Winter scenes on a hot day
I liked it a lot.

I think I will do all reviews in haiku henceforth.
