Last chance to see!

Apparently I was wrong about that last entry being of interest only to myself. How, well, interesting. :)

But this is more interesting, I think: A FANTASY MEDLEY is officially sold out, which means if you haven’t gotten a copy, your last chance is to win one that one of us is giving away. So you have until noon Eastern tomorrow to participate in my casting contest. Go forth! Participate! Enjoy!

I have a really hard time with them too. You can do something as simple as "pick a number between 1 and 500 and the closest person gets the book" but I sort of like to make people try harder. :)

suricattus did a good one the other day where she'd been on her way home and she'd seen, on a 3rd floor window ledge, a knife block complete with knives, so she ran a contest for people to give her a plausible reason/story in 75 words or less for what it was doing there. I thought that was a good kind of thing.

I've done them where the contest is just to convince me that you! yes you! should be the lucky winner! The problem with that is there are usually two or three great ones, where one person goes overboard with sheer storytelling and then somebody else doesn't want it for herself but could I send a book to her friend in the hospital undergoing chemo because she's a big fan, and someone else who... :) (I often end up with more than one winner with that kind of thing, but in this case there aren't enough copies of the book to have too many winners!)

jimhines has run caption-contests where he has people come up with LJ-icon captions for covers of his books, or "a picture of you with my book" contests.

Me, I came up with an utterly brilliant contest idea for the Negotiator books, and forgot it before I wrote it down. it's still killing me. :)
