very confused

Agently response on TRUTHSEEKER was, in almost its entirety, “Hey, that was fun to read!” Given that said agent also gave me a thumbs-up on the proposal for the fifth Walker Papers book (which never, ever, ever happens: she always says, “Not bad, but there’s kind of too much information dump, don’t you think?”), I begin to fear that she has been replaced by Folger’s Crystals. But I HAVE NOTICED! HAH! Take that! So I am very confused, but also quite pleased. :)

I went back to the massage place yesterday and can now turn my head further to the left than I’ve been able to in years. If I can figure out how to afford it I’m going to keep going back for a while. He seems to think he can fix my right shoulder entirely. That would be nice. Somewhat inconceivable, but nice.

And I’ve knitted almost 24 inches on this scarf. It’s very pretty, all sparkly and silver.

That’s my exciting life.

Hey. Don't under-estimate moving pain-free! It's pretty exciting to be able to do that!

Pictures of the scarf!

It's very exciting, actually. After I finally got my lower back fixed it was well over a year before an oncoming sneeze didn't make me seize up in anticipation of excruciating lower back pain. It's not only exciting to be pain-free, but it's pretty astonishing how much pain you can learn to live with as simply being a matter of course.

You really want pictures of a less-than-half-done scarf?

I totally agree. It's kind of strange and fascinating to think about!

Yes! It's your first! :)

Also, I came back actually to note that I pre-ordered The Pretender's Crown this week and quite gleefully noted that Amazon is projecting it to arrive on my birfday. Kit Prezzie! :D

The human body can adapt to a stupid amount of stuff. Not happily, perhaps, but functionally, anyway. We're sort of amazing creatures. :)

YAY for birthday books! Heep heep hooray! :)

Well, my infodump is usually kind of trying to catch the reader up on who everybody is. I end up redistributing that through more chapters, instead of shoving it all into the first two or three. (In fact, I worked REALLY REALLY HARD on the WP5 proposal trying not to infodump, but I was still astonished when Jenn didn't say "too much info!")

An editor or agent or an insightful 'first reader' sort will help catch scenes where infodumps have gone on too long. The best thing I can suggest is when you're re-reading your own material, if you find yourself inclined to skip any of the information that's being dropped, take a look at it and see if it can be pared down to something shorter, maybe.

Congrats on finishing the book!

What are the little check marks for? :)
kitmizkit on March 25th, 2009 11:03 am (UTC)
They were partly to see how long it took somebody to ask about them, but mostly they're a way to keep track of how many days I've gone without eating sweets. I get a star if I make 7 in a row!

Ah! I've been wondering for a while, but I keep hoping vainly to catch you online. Eventually, I gave up and posted. :)

*laughs* And you were the first to ask.:)
