Nabbed from tambowrites:

Supposedly if you’ve seen more than 85 of the 239 films on this list, you have no life. Copy this list, then put x’s next to the films you’ve seen, and add them up. I tag anyone who wants to play. Have fun.

My grand total: 103

Doesn’t especially seem like a “no-life” number to me. Also, irrelevantly, it seems I read 97 books in 2008, which is only 7 shy of the minimum number I /ought/ to read every year. A great number of those were graphic novels, which always seem vaguely cheaty to me, but I think I’ll take it. And I wrote 360,000 words, and I walked 1160 miles, which is about twice as much as I’ve walked every year previous to this in which I’ve been tracking miles around Middle Earth, and normally this is where I would write down this year’s revolutions.

I don’t think I’m going to do any this year. My friend lease says that under the dictionary definition of ‘ambition’ it says: see Murphy, C.E., and I suspect not writing down my work goals is not going to in any way prevent me from going all over-achiever on them. I have three books due in 2009; that, really, is enough of a structure. And last year’s writing down of non-work goals didn’t spur me to do them, it just makes me feel tired and sad that I didn’t achieve them. So right now I’m just kind of feeling like trying to go with whatever happens and putting as few strictures and expectations on it as my type-A personality will allow.

2008 miles to Dunharrow: 93.5
miles to Dunharrow: 96.2

85 exactly! But what a strange list.

I saw this first on my nephew's Facebook. I think it's some sort of hip with the kids thing.

That is a very strange collection, and the groupings don't appear to make any sense whatsoever. No distinction is made between the old and new versions of, for instance, King Kong and War of the Worlds, and of course there is no rating system. (Should it count more or less against you if you saw a movie and really hated it?) Many series are incomplete (Indiana Jones, Shrek, Bourne...).

I started to fill this out but decided it was even more pointless than most of these sorts of things.

146.... and there are a few I know that I remember not sitting through the entire thing, so I didn't count them... no life? Certainly an understatement.

Kind of... Slanted toward horror, innit?

Walking to Rivendell
Nicholas Whyte gave me your link as I am just starting out. I am posting photos and reports on my non-LJ Blog: http://radicchiodiaries.blogspot.com/
I'd be interested in your experiences.

Re: Walking to Rivendell
Oh, cool, good for you. I've done, I don't know, about 4000 miles or something around Middle Earth by now. I'm not sure why, but for some reason the structure of the Walk to Rivendell really works for me. I hope it does for you too!

Re: Walking to Rivendell
I've completed 1 week and am embarked on keeping as fantasy journal complete with photographs. As Saaremaa where live is steeped in history and very beautiful - I think it's going to be an interesting project.

4000 miles!!!! How long have you been walking ?

Re: Walking to Rivendell
Six years at the end of March, I think. I've mostly been doing 5-600 miles a year, but for some reason I did nearly 1200 this year...

I took a look at your photos! They *are* gorgeous! What a great setting!

Re: Walking to Rivendell
Thank you very much. Saaremaa is a pretty unique place. During the occupation years, it was completely closed except for local residents and Russian soldiers. Thus it was spared much of the worst depredations of Stalinist town planning.
I will continue to lighten my reports with photos. I'm planning to make a record of that forest as she changes through the year. - and some other places as well.

1200 miles - that's incredible!!!
