Of course that’s what I thought of.

This morning, while reading an article about Tina Fey’s wildly successful Sarah Palin impersonations, I came upon the line “It’s the court jester’s job to make fun of the king.”

This, *obviously*, triggered “You can have no idea how happy I was you had come to make music for me again,” and now, god damn it, I cannot re-read that book until I have done today’s work, and I am sullen and sulking about this.

On the other hand, I know what I’ll be doing with my evening. :)

Yesterday’s thinks to do list has become today’s, too. I did a fair bit of work yesterday, but didn’t actually finish any of the things on the list.

- work up a handout for the “developing your writer’s voice” class (in progress)
- ideally, although not as critically, also create handouts for
» visualization class
» dialog class
- print out the submissions for critique
- review at least one of them
- print out WALKING DEAD, while I’m at it

Go on...I'm pleading ignorance and 6am.
What's the book?
kitmizkit on October 13th, 2008 03:47 pm (UTC)
TIGANA, by Guy Gavriel Kay, which is probably my favorite book in the world. :)

Guy Kay's always a good treat to promise oneself... (I assume that's what you were referring to?)

I don't recognize this quote as being from him, but damnit...

I now need to go pick up those books when I go to the library today.

Well, at least the Tree Trio.

And indeed, you are utterly correct.

*goes to curl up and read*

I wish I had your work ethic. You really earn your success.

Hey, when you go to the SC Writer's Conference, you're not flying through Charlotte, are you?
kitmizkit on October 12th, 2008 03:31 pm (UTC)
Emmm... *checks* No, flying through Atlanta, sorry.

...I swear I never would have thought of this posting's contents in terms of work ethic. Huh. :)

Well, every time I see your posted to do list, something on it relates to your career. That's my point. :)

Myrtle Beach is...uh...like three hours from here, not a bad day trip. I might check the finances and see about joining you there. Would love to take you to lunch or something. :)

That's a much nicer way of looking at it than assuming I have no life. :)

I'm not *entirely* clear on the weekend meal schedules--they may involve eating with the classes which have been meeting--but I *know* I'm free Thursday, because I'm coming in Wednesday night and hope to shop a bit and get a little acclimated. So if it'd work for you, Thursday would be best for me. :) Let me know! :)

Awwww, I'd totally do that if I could, but I have to take time off work Tuesday morning to interview a restaurant owner and his chef...I figured a cover story is worth a few hours of vacation, even if I have, like, very few left. :(

One way or the other, it'd be cool to have you that close to us in Charlotte. :)
kitmizkit on October 13th, 2008 11:29 am (UTC)
Awww! Oh well. I'm sure I'll be back in that neck of the woods sometime! :)
