Is it possible…

…that I know, via LJ or otherwise, someone in London with whom I could crash the evening of the 18th of September? I’m only going to be there basically long enough to do the signing, flying in the afternoon of the 18th and flying out on the 19th, but I am cheap and if I can avoid paying London hotel rates for even one night, that would be…nice. :)

I’m thinking of doing a week’s worth of fiction postings at the end of the month. It may be an Internet Busking Week, though I’m not actually sure that sort of thing works unless you’re Warren Ellis and have thousands upon thousands of slavish blog readers. :) Anyway, short fiction, presumably. The problem is, I’m not especially good at thinking up short story ideas, so this is your opportunity to get a semi-commissioned C.E. Murphy story. Give me an idea or a topic or a theme or a character or whatever, and I’ll see what I can do.

It’s September. It’s September *2008*. How in God’s name can that *be*? *boggle* Thinks to do over the next week or so:

- finish the WENDEGO proposal
- write Chance #6
- get more of the Mia proposal done for Lanny

miles to Isengard: 248.3
ytd miles swum: 11.3

Maybe a story about Joanne before she leaves the reservation?
That's the only thing I could think of as it's 6 in the morning and I have yet to scurry off to bed. :)

We're not actually in London, being 45 minutes out of Kings Cross, but you'd have been welcome to stay with us.

We're also convenient for Stansted.

If only we weren't away that week.
kitmizkit on September 3rd, 2008 05:11 am (UTC)
If only. *laughs*
The Bellinghmanbellinghman on September 3rd, 2008 05:40 am (UTC)
Talking about being away, we're beginning to consider the next Fasnacht. 04:00 on the 2nd March to 04:00 on the 5th.
kitmizkit on September 3rd, 2008 07:07 am (UTC)
Oh, *man*, I hope we can manage to join you for that. Right now I have no idea at all if our finances will allow it, but don't let me forget about it, ok? Remind me in a couple of months...
The Bellinghmanbellinghman on September 3rd, 2008 07:34 am (UTC)
Will do. (Octocon?)

We have the luxury of either a direct flight from Stansted, or of doing it by train, which is a bit more expensive, and takes a bit longer, but which is so hassle free by comparison. From Dublin, the train option isn't on, and I don't see cheap direct flights, so you might have to bounce via Stansted or similar.
kitmizkit on September 3rd, 2008 08:20 am (UTC)
I still won't know in October what our finances will look like, but it'll keep it in my mind, at least! That'll be good. :)

You're welcome to come and stay with us. We're in zone one, so handy for hopping off the next day.

I have to be off to work by 9:25 (it's a press day for me the next day) and it's a high-rise airbed in the sitting room, but you're more than welcome.

:::hugs::: Supernatural starts Sept 18. I'm not in London but if I were you could crash there. :::offers cookies:::

Are you going to the Con?
Dinidamedini on September 1st, 2008 11:24 am (UTC)
Come to Toronto, I'll put you up. *grin*

I like the early Joanne idea. How about a side-track to Billy's early life and how he dscovered his various proclivities (drag, ghosts)?
Or somethign completely new about a new character? Something super scary for hallowe'en?
kitmizkit on September 3rd, 2008 05:12 am (UTC)
I would *love* to come to Toronto! But not this month, probably... :)

A short featuring Jo's sprit guide.

Seconded. Or perhaps just a short from Jo's coyote's POV.

Writing idea
If you are interested in doing something different my writing group is doing a celebrity vampire, werewolf, zombie, etc... stories for Halloween. The rules are 500 to 5000 words and it must be a real celebrity not an imaginary one. I'm having a blast with it. :)

Something like that may be fun for you too.

Heya! We don't have a room per se, but glorious leather couches which you can sleep on. We are a half an hour into Charing Cross which means a ten minute stroll to FP.

And all it will cost you = to constantly pet our Jack Russell. He is very needy and loving.

Hope you get sorted out!

I love Jack Russells. They're such awesome dogs.

I will probably be taking clanwilliam up on her offer, although if it turns out they have a long-haired cat, it'll be me and the terrier on a glorious leather couch! Thank you for the offer, and I hope I'll see you at FP!
The Bellinghmanbellinghman on September 3rd, 2008 05:36 am (UTC)
I'm fairly sure I didn't see a cat when we visited.

Nope, no cat!

Yep, I'll be there! Pretending to be cool in the presence of an author I admire...we are such funny beasts! I'll even offer to take you out to dinner if you like...? I am sure I can drag kazdreamer along too!
kitmizkit on September 5th, 2008 05:17 am (UTC)
I think there's a tentative pub run planned after the signing, although possibly food and *then* pub would be a good idea. That would be fun!

(Don't worry. I'll be pretending to be cool, period, when I know I'm really just me. :))

For a short story, what about the effects of Immigration on the Tuatha de Dannan in Ireland
kitmizkit on September 3rd, 2008 04:50 pm (UTC)
...eheh. I like that. :)
wyvernfriendwyvernfriend on September 3rd, 2008 04:53 pm (UTC)
*grins* some day I may write something about it myself but apart from a vague idea that's all I have at the moment. It will probably bubble through eventually, may not.
