I have BOOKS!

I have a WHOLE BOX of books! THE QUEEN’S BASTARD has arrived…and wow, is a box full of this book *pretty*. All rich and lush looking. Unfortunately, I have no clever ideas on contests to run, and perhaps more relevantly, no money to send books out with, so I’m not going to be giving books away right now. (Fortunately, it’s out on Tuesday, so people might start seeing it in bookstores as soon as this weekend. In fact, somebody reported the first sighting yesterday–in *Stockholm*, of all places.)

Yesterday I decided I might do something rash like take the weekend off, and this morning I decided that in fact the weekend would start *today*, and that I’d take a three day break before head into revisions. I deserve it, demmit. *squinchy face* So I started reading Tamora Pierce’s TERRIER and intend on reading and going to movies this weekend. It will be lovely. :)

I didn’t see the kitty-rescuing girl this morning, but I did see another kitten, tortiseshell, of the same size as the black kitty, so now I’m quite certain they’re strays and that somebody dumped a litter. I’ll try to find the girl and tell her about the torty, but if I can’t find her I might try to catch him myself and at least bring him to the pound or something so he’s not abandoned out in the weather. Poor kitties. Wretched people.

*laughs* We were watching some music video with Robbie Williams and Daryl Hannah, and Ted said, “Somebody had a crush when he was a teenager,” and I was like, “Is he even straight?” and Ted said, “I think he’s from the 51st century.” *laughs more*

Okay, off to read!

Hurray! How many's that you've written now? Are you into triple figures yet?
kitmizkit on April 26th, 2008 06:08 pm (UTC)
Aw, heck, I'm only in the midst of writing the 16th now. Long way off from triple digits...

in *Stockholm*, of all places.

Stockholm actually has fairly good bookshops. I think we ended up buying autopope's Singularity Sky in one there, because we'd never seen a copy before.

Oh, that is pretty: congratulations.
There are no punishments good enough for people who abandon kittens. (I used to work for an animal charity.)

Was Queen's Bastard the first in the series? I think it was and I thought the cover was mezmerizing and not only for the cleavege shown. Whenever you feel ready to send out books. I am here, drooling, like usual.

PS: I don't recall Robbie Williams to have a clip with Daryl Hannah. I just know the one he had with Nicole Kidman. Must be an even earlier one.
kitmizkit on April 25th, 2008 11:13 am (UTC)
It is, in fact, the first in the series, and it's out Tuesday, so you could rush out and buy it and see just how mesmerizing it is! :)

These people may have contacts. They do kitty rescue http://www.animalcaresociety.ie/ I have met them and been quite impressed however their website is rather nauseating so am slightly put off volunteering for them.

Eep! Stupid reflex button pressing. Posted before I got to SQUEE! Box'o'Books! Congratulations!

Whoever thinks up the best contest gets a copy of the book?

Seriously though, congrats on another book. (Oh no! I have to go to the bookstore again! Woe! Anguish!) One nice thing about you working yourself until you almost break yourself is that there's always another new book coming soon. None of this once every year or two crap we get from other authors...the wimps! :)
kitmizkit on April 26th, 2008 06:06 pm (UTC)
I hope you'll all forgive me if that "new book coming out soon" drops to a soonness of a little less frequency...

I got myself a House of Cards in the mail, just in time to bring it with me down south for weekend visit. Hooray, my sanity is saved!
daybrightdaybright on April 25th, 2008 03:20 pm (UTC)
they seem to be shipping it early to northern Europe, we got copies at my store last monday, there was an on sale date with it (but we might have maybe sold some loyal fans of yours copies early)
It looks really good and I'm looking forward to reading it.
kitmizkit on April 26th, 2008 06:04 pm (UTC)
They don't seem to be selling early copies to my loyal fans in America, so I will just admire ... ooh, you're in Iceland? I'd really like to visit Iceland. O.O

Er, where was I. oh yes, admiring you for feeding the flames. *admireadmire* :)

Yay! Books. Must buy! Well, ok, I'll wait until I'm a) in a natively English speaking country and b) tuesday. *sigh*

I have been checking Barnes and Noble the last few days hoping for sneaky early copies of Kitbooks! But no sneaky early Kitbooks for me. Sniff.

I guess I'm going to have to read this Cory Doctorow ARC that's just shown up in my mail. That's right, I'm killing time reading Cory Doctorow while I'm waiting for YOU. ;)
kitmizkit on April 26th, 2008 06:05 pm (UTC)

I went to Borders to buy your books today (sort of; I went and then remembered that it came out and thought hey that's convenient! I'll buy Catie's book!) But despite the fact that the computer said it was received, they could NOT find it. So I am sans TQB tonight and very sad.

That's a very sad story! Snif!

It might've still been in boxes in the back. It's not *officially* out until May 1, and Borders is pretty stickler-y about not putting books out til the street date.
