movies & metrics

Ted and I went to see “Street Kings” today, which was not only a surprisingly good movie, but Keanu Reeves was surprisingly good *in* it. There were only a couple of “whoa” or “dude” kinds of moments, and one of them was very nearly on purpose, I think. I’d say that was hands down the best Reeves movie I’ve ever seen, and hell, I /like/ him. (Generally I think he’s actually a hell of a physical actor, which is why he did so well in the Matrix movies: they didn’t require him to talk a lot, and delivering lines is not his strong point. But damn, “Street Kings” was *good*!)

I informed myself this morning that I would write between 9am and 1pm, and whatever I wrote in that time would simply be enough. I wrote 4200 words. I think my brain is somehow outsmarting me.

*Man* I have ComicCon envy. NYCC is sounding awesome from everybody’s posts. *flings self in a pit, dramatically* :)

I want to see Street Kings. I like Keanu when he's not being smart, if that makes sense. Because he doesn't do smart well. And, c'mon, Hugh Laurie. *cough*

Yay writing!

And yes, NYCC sounds fantastic. But SDCC will be good too.

*laughs* Yeah, actually, that does make sense. And yeah, Hugh Laurie. Rawr. :)

Well done on the wordage, despite the brain drain. I managed 2,500 in my allotted time. :)

Ooh, you are so right. He has been a lovesome thing, and I have long had a picture of the young bare-chested Keanu on my fridge (hey, look, it's not my fault, okay? People send me these things on the assumption that I will do exactly that. It's an ironic gesture)(*sigh*).

But. Have you seen "A Walk in the Clouds"? Worst. Film. Evar. I wanted to walk out after the first ten minutes, and stayed for the full three weeks, and hated myself for being so feeble.

I haven't. :) Nor have I seen "Sweet November", which actually looked like there was a faint chance he might be acting in it. I deduced from that that the presence of Charlize Theron causes him to reach the highest bar to which he is capable, since previous to "Street Kings" the best thing I've seen him in is "Devil's Advocate", which also had Charlize Theron in it.

I gotta say, if anything were gonna inspire a man to his best, Charlize ought to be right up there.

I really do like him, though. He's pretty, and he does have a great physical presence. He just doesn't deliver lines very well.
