ONE. MILLION. WORDS!

My editor at Del Rey sent a couple copies of THE QUEEN’S BASTARD ahead of the contracted author copies so that I could see them soonest. Oh my god. This is a beautiful, beautiful, *beautiful* book. Ted, in awe, said, “This is *hot*,” and it *is*. I cannot *wait* for this to go on the shelves so people can get it, because oh my GOD it’s gorgeous. I ran around the house shrieking and doing the beauty queen thing and being all tearful. It’s *so* pretty.

And it’s the mark of a couple pretty freaking significant landmark for me. First, it’s my first non-Harlequin book. Second, it’s my TENTH FREAKING NOVEL! ZOH. MY. GOD.

And third, I now have one million words in print.

Not too damned bad for somebody whose first book came out in June 2005, eh?

*beams like a frakking fool*

That's fantastic! Yay you!

So, er, are the books gonna keep getting taller? I mean, in three more years, when your twentieth book comes out, am I going to have to buy giant bookshelves? :)

Congrats! I can't wait to find that on the shelves where it belongs!

...Although, seriously, I wish all books were still the size of those Cate Dermody volumes. REAL trade paper sizing! I won't be able to tuck "The Queen's Bastard" into a coat pocket to read on the train. :(
kitmizkit on April 9th, 2008 02:56 pm (UTC)
The Dermody books are mass market size, and I've had an ongoing discussion with my publishers over mass market vs trade, but for the foreseeable future my books are going to keep coming out in trade. I hear you on the less-travelable size of 'em, but, um, well, I make more money off the trades... :)
