compulsive hair disorder

I watched the Oscars on RTE One last night. Wow, that was the most boring Oscars I’ve ever seen. But I wanted to see Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova perform “Falling Slowly” and get their Oscar for it, ’cause I was so delighted they’d won. *beams*

However, there was Bonus Material in the form of Tilda Swinton’s hair. ZOMG. I have hair envy.

Being of vampire pallor myself, I gotta say I love her relentlessly fishbelly white skin tones, and can pretty much guarantee that if she got sunlight she'd turn approximately the same color as her hair! :)

On the pallor side, I suspect she actually looks pretty normal under normal lighting. I think she just doesn't use the pancake makeup that everyone else there seems to, and that's why she looks odd.

the cut's too short and severe for you, I think, but the color meets approval, indeed.

Oh but they sound so much better live than they did at the Oscars.

What an odd looking woman, but she does have fabulous hair.

*grins* There's a reason she plays gender-ambiguous roles. I think she's very beautiful in her own way. (Check out Orlando sometime, yow.)

She is an awesome actress. I think she played Gabriel in Constantine which is an absolutely fabulous movie. She is very striking. I just found a very interesting article on her too.

Missed them due to not actually having RTE on the telly - and also cause I forgot they were on.

I did see Glen and Marketa on the news though, squee.

I think Tilda Swinton rocks! Even her dress was cool. Youtube gave me the song performance and it is great to hear it getting saturation play on the radio too. It is the best Oscar song in years and not a three fingered mouse in sight. Yay!

Wow. That is a fabulous haircut and sets off her particular androgynous beauty very well. But yeah, I agree with the other commenter that it's a bit severe for Kits, who are not androgynous :)

The Oscars were quite predictable this year and the gowns (yes, I'm a fashion geek) were on the classy, but boring side. Not one woman dared to do something different. Okay, I adored Diablo Cody's dress, it gave a sense of personality and vibrancy.

Overall, it felt as if the Oscar producers wanted to suck any spontaneity out of the show completely. How fun is THAT to watch? Personally, I would rather watch the Golden Globes because it has a more comprehensive range of honors (TV and Film/ Drama AND Comedy) and it doesn't hurt they serve alcohol during the program to the actors. lol Helps them to loosen up and create some of the BEST acceptance speeches around.

I think I most loved Jon Stewart bringing Marketa back on stage to give her time for her thank yous!

I wonder if part of the becalmed Oscars presentation was due to the writers' strike running right up to the wire?

Oh, they cut that out of the RTE version of the show! I will have to look on youtube to see if I can find it! YAY for Jon Stewart! That's awesome. *beams*

I'm pretty sure part of it was the strike, yeah. And possibly the RTE version cut out everything that might have been entertaining, too. :)
