how unusual!

That was deeply unusual.

I was invited to participate in an anthology a while ago, and while I don't actually know if the anthology is going to happen or not, this morning I woke up with the first lines of the story in my head. Now, I don't write short stories very often, because I don't think I'm particularly good at them and I almost always want to write a longer story out of the idea rather than a shorter story.

However, 90 minutes after getting up, I have a 3400 word short story completed. I rather like it. If the anthology doesn't go, I'll have to try to sell it somewhere, which would be a whole new experience for me. :)

That did, though, shoot the shit out of my actual plans for the morning, which were to get up, do dishes, and leave the house immediately to work on the TQB galleys. Yesterday's galleys went really well! I did 160 pages and could've easily done more, except that was all I'd brought with me. :) I think I'll bring...well, hell, I might bring the whole rest of the ms with me today. I don't know that I'll get through it all, but it won't hurt to bring it.

I still really like this book. :)

OOOH Ted's making blueberry pancakes for breakfast. And last night he made astoundingly good steak and grilled veggies. OMG. So. Very. Good! I have the *best* husband. *beams*

(eta: oh, MAN. First we were out of flour, so no pancakes, so we went to make cereal and oatmeal, and the MILK was sour. AUGH! STARVING! MEOW! HUNGRY! and we can't even go out for breakfast in a fit of pique, because the goddamned groceries are supposed to arrive sometime in the next 90 minutes, so we can't leave the house! ARGH!)
