live from america!
Strange things I have been noticing about America:

- Everybody sounds pretty much like me (although here, they all say "harrible" instead of "horrible")

- The shops, which are called stores, don't close at 6pm.

- There are lots and lots of tan people.

- They drive on the other side of the road. I am *so* confused!

There were other things, too, but that's all I can remember right now. :)

Where are you now? We say "horrible" where I live, there are very few tan people, and the roads are so narrow you can't tell what side you're on!

You just need to be in the right city. We're practically Ireland here anyways...

I remember the first weird thing I noticed on my first arrival in America was all the round doorknobs. Try hard as I might, they didn't depress! How in the world did one open doors in that country!

(Turn them, you say? How...inconvenient. How can you do that when your hands are fully of shopping, and you can't just use your elbow to push them down? Foreigners...)

Yes, that's one of the first things I noticed too. Twenty five years later and it still doesn't make sense. (Neither does the insane way people write dates over here.)

it's common knowledge that many people on the East Coast suffer from a speech impediment.

Wait hold on I tune out of LJ for a few days and suddenly you're in Massachusetts? What the hell?

And the con? Did you find the con? Huh? Huh?

She found the con. Either that, or both she and us wound up at the wrong hotel with a good facsimile of a con going on at it. :)

Heh. The first time I drove in Ireland, I had no trouble sticking to the proper side. But when I came back to the US, I couldn't remember for *weeks* what side of the road I was supposed to be on.
