Mostly I'm posting because last year I was asked to consider doing a cover quote for Lisa Shearin's first novel, MAGIC LOST, TROUBLE FOUND. I was, truth be told, a little nervous about the prospect, because it was urban fantasy, and I am writing So Much Urban Fantasy that it's really, really hard to read it. It's like work.
However, to my delight, Lisa had written a novel that focused as much on the fantasy as the urban; it wasn't set on a near-earth, and was peopled with elves and goblins and humans and etc in a medieval-ish city society, therefore proving to be nothing like I expected, and it was all around charming. Not, as good Mr. Charles de Lint said about URBAN SHAMAN, a Big Think book, but just the right sort of thing to while a few hours away with. The book is out at the end of May, and she's just put a couple sample chapters up. Check 'em out. :)
