a quick poll

Apropos of a discussion with a friend earlier this morning, I am asking the writers on my friends list the following question: Why do you participate in short story anthologies?

I'd have made it a weighted thing if I could figure out how, but LJ doesn't seem to support a "in descending order of importance" poll option, so I'm just asking the same question 3 times in a row so people can choose the top 3 things that drive them toward participating in anthologies. :)

I participate in anthologies for the chance

to get paid for writing a short story
3(13.6%)
to be in a book with cool people
4(18.2%)
to do something I probably wouldn't otherwise
8(36.4%)
to try to reach new audiences for my writing
7(31.8%)
other to be essplained in comments
0(0.0%)

quick DWB/DTRPG update

A dozen people have now emailed me their receipts for their donations to Doctors Without Borders via Drive Thru RPG. In fact, a few more than a dozen have emailed me, so I will throw in a baker’s dozenth book.

The 13th book will be a name drawn from a hat after DTRPG shut down their fundraising efforts, so if you decide to donate through them, go ahead and email me the receipt and I’ll put your name into the hat.

You guys are all extremely, extremely cool. Thank you for participating in this. *beams* (DTRPG has brought in $127.3K now, by the way. Yay gamers!)

mostly metrics

CEs on TRUTHSEEKER are almost done. My reward is spending tomorrow afternoon & evening doing the AAs for DEMON HUNTS. I anticipate those being pretty quick, though. *fingers crossed*

I am now going to go spend the remainder of my evening watching Sanctuary. *drags self off*
