jez' a reminder

My monthly two week writing challenge starts today and goes through the end of March. Participants can keep track of what they're working on and how far they've gotten in their goals over at toonowrimo!

thinks to do today:
- fold the laundry
- exercise, which is not the same as
- go for a walk
- see how far I can get with HoCH

...and not that this has anything to do with anything, but I want the ability to create more 'current moods' and assign new pictures to them. I don't get a lot of use out of most of the pre-set moods, but I could really use an 'anticipatory', for example...

Every time I go outside it starts to rain.

Ok, sometimes it starts to rain when I don't go outside, too, but it's a bother to go out for a walk and discover doing so is an invitation for the skies to open up. But I walked! And now I only have 20 miles to go to Dunharrow, and 12 days before the end of the month, so hopefully I shall get there before April.

Revisions proceed apace. I actually got a decent amount of forward motion done today, and broke 50K words for the year (thank God). If I can get myself back up to 200 pages by the end of the month, I'll be pretty happy. Fortunately, there seem to be bits where I can in fact work in stuff from the first draft, rather than having to abandon another hundred pages of material (*shudder*).

Trent finished reading TQB, and said, "*****?!" when he got to the end. Hee hee hee. :)

Playing CoH tonight. Thinking about watching Much Ado About Nothing, too. For the scene where Don Pedro asks Beatrice to marry him, if nothing else. Such a gorgeous scene. Siiigh. She shoulda said yes. :)

ytd wordcount: 52,600
miles to Dunharrow: 178

shadowhwk, who is what I consider to be really truly American, ethnically speaking, is participating in this ongoing discussion regarding racism. Right now the discussion is focused on racism in the publishing industry. One of her debate partners feels strongly that anyone who has any black genetic material in their makeup is by default black, and that claiming to be anything other--like, multiracial--is selling out and so on and so forth in that manner. Now, what I can remember of Sarah's ethnic background off the top of my head includes Shoshone Indian, Irish, African, and possibly German, but maybe that's somebody else. Anyway, under this woman's argument, she's rejecting her black heritage and is therefore an Oreo: black on the outside, white on the inside.

I thought about this carefully, and decided no, that's all wrong. She's not nearly black enough on the outside to be an Oreo, and clearly she's too socially sensitive to be purely white on the inside.

I have concluded that obviously, she is a Nutterbutter.
