But the best bit was I didn't know which one was hers. I narrowed it down to three out of the ten just by reading the excerpts, and I was *pretty* sure I knew which one was hers from the remaining three, and I genuinely thought that one was the best of the lot. The other two that might've been hers were also worthy, but it was a turn of phrase in the one that made me think it was hers.
I was right. *smug dance* I seriously doubt anybody else could've picked hers out of the lineup, but I think it's probably safe to say that the only person who has observed her writing development more closely over the last, oh, decade+, is
Hers is "The Lady's Not For Petting". I personally thought the other genuinely worthwhile entry was "The Lady's Favor", but I thought Sarah's was better.
Not that I'm biased or anything. But I thought it before I knew which one was hers! :)
