Introducing Sophia the First

Not that we expect more Sophias. She’s named after a Disney princess. :)

I decided rather suddenly this week that we needed a cat, and since the animal rescue was having an adoption day on Saturday, we went in to look at “Tiggles”, who had been with them since December because she HAAAAAAAAAATED adoption days and curled into the corner of the cage and hissed and spat at anybody who came near. She’s been fostered at one of the rescuers’ homes, though, and they swore she was charming and sweet outside of the kennel, and, importantly, an adult (she’s 3.5 years old) who doesn’t mind small children, and I believed them. We took her home, renamed her Sophia, and now we have a lovely cat.

Sophia, lounging. :)

Radiators are best.

Watching birds out the window.

Sophia immediately displays a cat’s natural antipathy to a human having a laptop instead of a cat on their lap.

“Hey!” said Indy. “I want to be in that picture!”

Awww, what a cutie. My current cat also disliked adoption days, but she would just retreat to the remotest corner of her box and go the hell to sleep, thank you, frustrating all efforts to make her show off her personality, which is quite enormous.

May you have many happy years with Sophia the First.

I think they might have been less frustrated with a sleeping kitty, because she really was a hissy brat at the shelter! But she's lovely and currently pinning my husband down with her 9 pounds of weight. :)

She understands exactly how she should go on. She has a fine face.

Saffron's foster people despaired of getting her adopted because she wouldn't show how clever and affectionate she was, but they wrote her up so glowingly that we actually went looking for her on National Adoption Day.

She's beautiful! I'm so glad she found her forever home with you.

That appears to be a very fine cat, who has the lap occupying and grooming the owner skills well in hand.

Ah, you have a tortie!

Has she bitten you yet, or hunted and killed your bed mice (toes) at 3am?

If not, she's lazy!

She actually seems pretty uninterested in sleeping people!
