Highlights of the visit included the singing gibbons at Fota, a bus tour guide who pulled out of the station, blithely referred to Cork in the 18th century as being "a real shitehole," thereby reducing Geni and me to giggles for pretty much his entire tour, Geni getting shocked by an electric fence, Blarney Castle and a brief wobble around St. Coleman's Cathedral. It was a very nice few days, and sometime next week I'll start posting photos, of which I took zillions. :)
I went up to Dublin with her yesterday, then turned around and came back out to Portarlington, where I've stayed the night and gotten up ridiculously early, though I don't plan to get on the train to Belfast until 10. (I really could quite easily make the 8am train, but no.) I'm going to go up there and do a city bus tour, and then it's off to MeCon for the weekend! I'm wondering if people hang around after the con and talk and drink on Sunday evening or not, 'cause if not I may grab a train back down to Port and reduce my Monday travel time by fifty percent, which would be very nice. I'll have to find out about that. :)
I actually got about 3000 words written this week, and since I'm up now, maybe I'll do a bit more writing before I get ready to face the world.
Thank you for all the Locus congratulations. *beam*
