heading in for the holidays

School’s over for the season. The house is full of empty boxes and not enough, relatively speaking, wrapped gifts. I’ve made several batches of fudge but gone totally AWOL on actual holiday baking, and I’m astonishingly full of not caring. One of my jars of homemade applesauce (from the batch I think I forgot to put lemon juice into) has gone moldy and now I’m slightly frantic to get the rest of it to other people so they can eat it before it goes bad. We’re having chicken soup for dinner because I just boiled and stripped a chicken carcass and basically all I need to do to have soup is add some herbs and vegetables.

All week Indy and I have been lighting candles in the kitchen window to guide the sun back home for the solstice, which he thinks is pretty awesome. Last night I lit them and went to bed at 8:30. Oops. Ted blew them out, though. :)

Um. Yeah. I’ve got a truly astounding amount of laundry to do, and we ran out of heating oil on Monday so the only thing keeping the downstairs warm is the space heater in the living room and the dryer running (nothing is keeping the upstairs warm; thank god for duvets). But fuel oil is to be delivered sometime today, and then we’ll be less frozen.

I suppose I should go do more dishes and then perhaps start wrapping some more gifts. Basically I’m sitting around the house today hoping our Amazon delivery arrives or it’s going to be a somewhat sparse Christmas for the adults in the family (which is fine, but, y’know. :)).

All your applesauce was consumed by me *well* before it became mouldy :)

Many thanks for it and Happy Christmas to all of you!

Nope. Ted had a very scanty Christmas. :(
