writing, fudge, conventions

It has now been 24 hours since I submitted my epic fantasy proposal to my agent and nobody has bought it yet. I’m very disappointed. :)

Last week I brought fudge to the arts & business centre where my son’s preschool is. *This* week I’ve had people who have never spoken to me before kind of falling over at me and saying “OMG that fudge!” and often “Do you sell this?!” :)

A writer whom I would very much like to meet, and who does not go to conventions, just announced that he would be going to Worldcon in Spokane next year. I suspect there’s a very high chance it would be the only opportunity I’d get to meet him IRL. #wibble

I keep thinking there’s more I want to post about but my brain is too thick and slow (sick and thow, I typed first, which is probably right too, at least the sick part) to remember what it is, so I’ll just post now.

Oh wait yeah, one of the things is I’m still prodding at the idea of the Old Races Kickstarter, when Kickstarter launches in Ireland later this month. 6 stories over 12 months, maybe? 12 stories over 18 months, for stretch goals? Hmmm! :)

OMG, if you are coming to Sasquan, then I suspect my hubby would expire of fanboy squee. He just discovered the Walker Papers...and by then, Sasquan will be our "local" Worldcon, more than PDX. Well, for whatever value of "local" that 170 miles and 4 1/2 hours (due to driving up and down steep canyon walls) is. Still, we'll be living in the Inland Empire.

So that'd be another mark in favour of going... :)

Have we ever actually met IRL? It FEELS like we have, we have known each other so long, that I can't actually remember. That's so weird.

Yes, in California, lo these many years ago. I have photographic evidence of it. :)

Weren't you all in that game? Or am I misremembering?
Mary Annepers1stence on October 3rd, 2014 03:20 pm (UTC)
who is it that you're hoping to meet?
kitmizkit on October 3rd, 2014 03:22 pm (UTC)
Daniel Keys Moran!

that would be lovely for you!! I know you've long loved his work....

It would be very cool indeed. I said on his G+, when he said he was going to Sasquan, that oh, that tilted going in its favour, as I'd like to meet him, and he very generously said 'likewise'. :)

aww, that's very nice! :)

Wasn't it? It gave me a lil' warm glow. :)

Oh, man, that's a double dose of temptation there.
kitmizkit on October 4th, 2014 08:21 am (UTC)
It's practically in your back yard. #tempts o.o

(He says he hasn't been to a con in 18 years and doesn't expect to go to another one...)

Hmmmm. I've always wanted to go to WorldCon. If you're thinking of going, that's definitely a strong tick in favor.

Hell, it'd just be great to meet up and hang out again. :D
kitmizkit on October 3rd, 2014 03:55 pm (UTC)
Yes. Yes it would. although that would make THREE YEARS IN A ROW, is that even allowed?!

*laugh* Consider it making up for lost time!

Old Worlds kickstarter!!!!
irishkateirishkate on October 3rd, 2014 11:12 pm (UTC)

I seriously hope work will not be suitable for sending me to WA next year (and I'd have to manufacture timing and a reason) but if it is I will consider it.

But honestly I hope I'm with someone else then...

oooooh meanwhile Kickstarter! !!

Did anything more ever happen with the original ORSS project? Sorry if I've missed it, but the last info I can find is the post from June 2013 with later date to be announced. Just curious!

I have a longstanding joke with a writer friend about how traditional publishing closes for ALL the holidays in the world.. so, you might have to wait until next week to hear .. grin.
