exercise post #2  

This is set to post on June 30.

June 13: After a 5:40am wakeup call I could not bring myself to do the Arnie workout again. I did this body weight workout, which hurt my toes with the lunge-walk thing, but mostly which just irritates the crap out of me with the pictures of Incredibly Fit Women doing these exercises. It turns out I’d rather look at guys demonstrating exercises, primarily because theirs is not a body ideal I have any societal expectation of reaching.

I’m giving this beginner’s bodyweight workout a serious look, too, as it’s (importantly to me, apparently) full of changing it up. (I also like his diet plan, which really can be summed up with EAT FRUIT & VEG ALL THE TIME plus some protein in sensible amounts. Which, yeah. So simple and yet so hard. :p)

June 16: I took the weekend off. I’m not feeling particularly more enthusiastic about working out after two days off, but I did two rounds of the Arnie workout because I didn’t have a handy link to the above workouts. My enthusiasm for the Arnie workout seems to flag after two rounds. 2 rounds is of course better than nothing, but not, y’know, RAH RAH RAH.

June 17: did pilates this morning. the truth is i can now do several of the intermediate-level versions of the exercises, but i don’t really think i’m up to actually moving on to the intermediate level. possibly because i’m lazy, you understand, more than because i’m incapable…

June 18: I do not want to exercise. It’s warm and I’m lazy and I just realized I’m wearing the wrong bra for jumping around in. Maybe later I can figure out some kind of dance workout or something, I don’t know. The Arnie stuff is leaving me bored and unwilling to do it.

June 19: Pilates. Rather be doing pilates than the other stuff now. I need a ballet bar or something.

June 30: *sigh* I did a couple more days worth of workouts after that last post, but after that I just…fell off the wagon. My give-a-damn got up and went. I am tired of being me and want someone with actual willpower to come inhabit my brain and body for six weeks and get my ass in shape. :p

They can take over my body for longer if they want. My knees are sore again and I refuse to exercise....

though I did walk several hundred meters over the weekend....3 times!

That is a good use for body swapping. Except then where would our mind go? Would it go into the body of the fit person who was taking ours over? What would we do with the fit body while ours was being whipped into shape? How much of the difficulties is mental, and how much of it is motivated by biofeedback from our body chemistry?

Okay, early Monday morning thought experiment from not enough sleep.

And that, basically, is why I have a personal trainer. And, essentially, an in-home chef.

. . . good god, I sound all hoity-toity, don't I? >.<

Basically, I have a Very Low level of motivation unless it's A Priority, so I need supplemental discipline.
