Sugar Wars: Day 3

It’s amazing how my caloric intake drops like a rock when I stop eating cake/cookies/ice cream/etc.

Not unrelatedly, I’m hungry.

That’s about all I got tonight. Either yesterday’s hot chocolate offset the OMFG I NEED SUGAR cravings and tomorrow will be hell, or this is going pretty well. And really, tomorrow is my Day In Dublin, and the odds of having another hot chocolate are, shall we say, Extremely High, so I’m either weaning myself off or purposefully torturing myself; your call. Anyway, either way, so far, not suffering much. Except for being hungry.

Here's an interesting thing I've found about sugar-the less you have, the less you crave it. As with any other addiction, it gets easier as you go along, and once you get down to a moderate intake, you (or at least I) can manage to maintain that pretty easily.

Of course, I drink hot chocolate almost every morning (good chocolate, without much sugar, and maple syrup for a touch of additional sweetness). Clearly that's the plan.

I don't do sweeteners so that's not an issue. :)

I'm hungry because my caloric intake has dropped between 30-50%, depending on the day. Simple as that. The fat thing has to do with a feeling of satiation, yeah, but the hunger is straight-up calorie deprivation.

Pardon, Long Time no Lj- so here in the middle of the conversation-

You know about sufficient protein intake helping keep one's blood sugar up, helping to lessen hunger, and burn stored carbs?
