stolen phone

My phone was just stolen. And it turns out that although I had it insured, I did not, apparently, have it insured against theft or loss. I could have sworn I did, but it’s not in the policy I’ve got, so…fuck.

So, guys! Support my crowdfund! You get fudge and I get a new phone… :}

It had been such a nice day up until then, too. The worst part is I don’t have the photos on the phone set to automatically upload to the cloud and I’d been thinking literally yesterday that I needed to upload them and now, well. Fuck.

(eta: I called my local garda, who suggested I hie myself over to the station in the area it was stolen and report it, because they only keep CCTV for 48-72 hours. I had not thought of CCTV at all. Guess I know where I’m going tonight.

eta2: went to the garda, did everything we could, odds are poor that i’ll get the phone back, but we’ve tried.)

If you have contents insurance on the house it might be insured on that. But then you would lose the no claims bonus which can actually be worth more (so to speak)

God damn fucking thieves. :P

(Soooo...was just checking out the crowdfund and saw the restrictions on the dairy-free not being eligible for the mix-and-match and sampler. I bought in at the dairy-free level, but if I'm cool with getting a dairy version, could I still get some of the other kinds if the threshold is reached? Because I would love to try your maple and maple-ginger... :P

Also: daaaaaark chocolaaaaaaate :)

Oh! Yeah, if you want non-dairy-free mix & match I'm cool with that I just didn't want to, y'know, poison people. :)

My usual fudge is much darker than the dairy-free stuff you had last year. One of the unanticipated results of using the dairy-free chocolate I used was that it turned out pretty milky; this year I'm going to alter the recipe by using 2 or 3oz of baker's chocolate, which is also dairy-free and which I think should darken it up nicely! :)

lol. And I'm cool with that sentiment. :D

I am, fortunately, merely lactose intolerant and not actually allergic to cow dairy (like someone I know is), which means that if I know something has dairy in it, I can take measures to mitigate the deleterious effects (aka, I have OTC lactase, and I know what to do with it >:). So I like dairy-free options, but I can also handle the peril.

Don't get me wrong: even as light as it was last year, it was good.

But I look forward to trying the darker version! :)

Last year's *was* good, but this year's will be *better*. :) And cool, hey, if it won't kill you, sure, you can mix and match. :)

If you use your phone for banking or credit card payments, don't forget to call them immediately and change your passwords.
kitmizkit on July 11th, 2014 06:11 am (UTC)
I don't, and even have a separate email address for the phone alone, but I went and changed all the passwords for everything I *do* log into through it except Dropbox, which I'm trying to figure out how to isolate a folder for so that in the wildly unlikely chance somebody's got a decent heart they upload the pictures I hadn't. :p But at the moment the phone's been turned into a brick and can't be used in Ireland at all anymore, and the garda say that usually stolen phones get sent out to India or Pakistan or other parts abroad the next day.

Think about putting the Prey antitheft software on your next phone, it might help if it happens next time.

It's an app, sorry the Prey thing.

Oh what a major suckfest. :(

Now I'm glad I'm in on the fudge! I'll do another round of signalboosting and see if I can get you some more backers.
